Google Adsense - Move Your Ads Away From Navigation
    Something like that:

"Generally, we ask that you not place your ads near features of your site that your users may interact with by clicking. If your site contains elements that increase the number of ad clicks without increasing business results for the advertiser, we may consider these clicks to be invalid."

This is one I happen to agree with. There have been times when I thought I was going to navigate to something on a site only to be clicked away to somewhere else.

As someone who uses adwords, I wouldn't want my ads out there aggravating potential customers. They won't blame the last site, they'll blame me. I wouldn't want anyone landing on my site pissed.

Is it more of a problem when small fonts are used, so that things are closer to each other?

They key here seems to be:

If your site contains elements that increase the number of ad clicks without increasing business results for the advertiser
I put my ads near my navigation, but they don't really look like my navigation, so I don't see it as a problem.

I understand why they are requiring this. As an advertiser the content network conversion is pathetic. A lot of it has to do with these type of things where people are clicking on ads not knowingly.
