Merchant Banner Problems - Part II
C'mon merchants! How many standard banner sizes are there - 8?

If something is important enough that you notify us of a banner - then make it available in ALL standard sizes! NOT just TWO sizes!

We can't change our websites around to fit your two banners.

For us to promote you, your banners have to fit OUR websites.

If you're too lazy to make a 125x125... then who looses?

    1. Your affiliate partner, because they didn't promote you

    2. The customer, because they didn't get to hear about your latest promotion

    3. You - the merchant

    That's EVERYONE!!!

They're called STANDARD banner sizes for a reason!

    Animated Banners:

If I happen to need six of your banners - and all you have are animated banners - I won't be promoting you.

    Who looses? See above!

My page is NOT a blinking Christmas Tree - it's a place of business!

If what your selling is relevent to my page, and is a quality product worth purchasing, you don't need to blink and change color.

I'm directing this vent only to those merchants who only offer animated banners.

Just to be clear, here are some sizes that are most sought after
    1) 125*125
    2) 468*60
    3) 728*90
    4) 120*600
    5) 120*240
    6) 120*60

    Misl:
    7) 234*60
    8) 300*300
    9) 250*250

I usually make the first 6 but the Misl is by special request only.

    Exactly Right!

Nothing can make an otherwise classy, business-like page look amateurish than even one blinking-moving-glaring-burning-colorgraphicchanging banner.

We're not trying to attract 2-year-olds: "Look at the colors ... buy me that microwave oven!"

    Eric,

234x60 is on the top right corner of most of my sites

Move it from "Misc" to "Standard" and you win lololol

I have not seen a lot of 234*60 being used except for recently..(maybe I am behind the 8th ball )
I started to get my designer to produce these sizes recently but I guess I need to start pushing that.

QUESTION: Billy, what would you believe to be a sound balance between animated ones and static ones: 50/50, 25/75 (static ones comprising 75% of the creative inventory) or some other co-relation? Other affiliates' feedback would also be good to hear. In fact, I've just started a poll on this here (not to derail this thread).

Thank you for a good thread, Billy!

If you want to animate it, make it classy, slow animation, one loop and don't make it look like it's flashing at a neon light at a bar.

I use only 125x125 and 234x60. I have trouble finding 234x60 most of the time.

    88 x 31

If you offer animated banners, make one in every size and offer two to three static banners in every size.

Sounds like the 75/25 deal to me, and this was what I've voted for myself [here]...

    recently i start to like 300 x 250

for coupon banner, static banner is always preferred,
as the visitors will not or hard to get the important info from animated banners
