    ooops.. the allposters one...

also on my new server it times out and says
    allposters-3.dat: (products) Killed365205 24%

then dies, my new host tells me this is a script issue and not a server issue, it ran fine on my old server...

    Thank you,
    Judith

Hi, turned out my tech support was wrong, it was my server, the swap file was at 100% and over 70% of my gb of ram was in use, I tried to reboot the server and it wouldn't come back up as someone on their end had accidentally deleted the boot files when they supposedly upgraded the kernel which I knew hadn't been upgraded because apache had been running for over 60 days straight! of course it took them 6 hours to figure this out what was wrong... so I was finally able to get the program to run again.. but it didn't create the national geographic pages...

    #catdelete 52104 # delete National Geographic Collection
catdir 52104:national_geographic # National Geographic Collection

    any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Judith

"National Geographic Collection" is a subcategory, it is not a root category, and thus will not appear on the home page. You should be able to find it at:

Home > Photography > Collections > National Geographic Collection

    or

    YOURDOMAIN.com/national-geographic-collection/

The statement "catdir 52104:national_geographic" tells allposters.pl to put the files of category 52104 into a directory "/national_geographic" rather than where it would normally go ("/photography"). The catdir statement does not affect the home page.

it didn't log the creation of the national geographic pages nor did it create the directory..... ;o(

other than reading the config file this is the only reference to national in the log file: 1626/2879: root > Education > Geography > Maps > Specialty Map Collections > National Geographic Maps #80217 p1 p2 p3 p4

    Thanks,

Yes, a sub-category can only be included if its all its ancestor categories (all the way up to the top-level category) are also included.

If all you want is the "National Geographic Collection" subcategory (Photography > Collections > National Geographic Collection), you can delete all the other sub-categories of Photography such as:

    catdel 84811 # Photography > Object
    catdel 1943 # Photography > Photographers
    catdel 84658 # Photography > Specialty Products
    catdel 56201 # Photography > Styles
    catdel 56200 # Photography > Subjects

The "#..." are comments (you can include those in the .ini file for readability).

To determine categories numbers and what sub-categories to delete, see a store that has all categories either build a full store at your own domain or see mine at http://www.zposters.com -- such as http://www.zposters.com/photography/ --- You might also want to delete other sub-categories of "Photography > Collections" to get rid of everything except for "National Geographic Collection".
