Question Sandals Resorts Spamming Affiliates Through CJ
I received an email via CJ from Sandals offering consumer-oriented stuff, not affiliate information. Is this supposed to happen?

Clearly no and they should know that. I received it as well. Interestingly, they have an unsubscribe link (which I did), but since they didn't send the email to my address but rather CJ did, that just means that CJ's messaging system will be unsubscribed. Clicking on the unsubscribe link resolves to:

    http://www.sandals.com/massmails/uns...une07_onceyear

I forwarded the email to the email address listed in the Sandals Advertiser Detail in CJ, with the following message:

"Since this message sent through the Commission Junction email system has nothing to do with the affiliate program, it is commercial spam. Please do not use the Commission Junction email system for purposes other than your affiliate program."

Would it really be a stretch that an affiliate was making you aware of a consumer promotion to promote yourself through CJ (or was this just blatant spam)?

Might be a good idea to read the entire thread. An affiliate can neither send email through CJ's system nor would their unsubscribe link land on the merchant's website.

Snowman, I mistyped in that last post and meant to say "advertiser" where I had written "affiliate". It should read:

Would it really be a stretch that an advertiser was making you aware of a consumer promotion to promote yourself through CJ (or was this just blatant spam)?

This was a consumer promotion directed to the recipient of the email. There was absolutely no mention of their affiliate program. I can assure you that it was an inappropriate use of the CJ internal email system set up for advertisers to promote their affiliate program.

    They just did it again!

Will a Mod please update the subject of this thread to "Sandals Resorts Spamming Affiliates Through CJ?" Maybe that will catch the attention of the CJ lurkers to put a stop to this. Since there is no way to unsubscribe without unsubscribing to legitimate affiliate-related email, I suspect this is a violation of CAN SPAM.

Could you remove the ? from the subject line? I was asking a question in my post but I didn't mean for the ? to be in the subject line since it is confirmed. Thank you.

I got it too. I guess I didn't mind it too bad... but I'm not going on a honeymoon anytime soon either.
