Just saw this on TV. Some amazing news as we seldom hear about this. The odds of finding a lost child is really slim.
Police looking for clues in the yearlong disappearance of a teenage girl found her Wednesday, pale but alive, locked in a hidden room in a home owned by an acquaintance of her parents.
Bloomfield police went to the home Wednesday to serve search warrants for DNA and other evidence and found the 15-year-old girl locked inside a tiny room hidden underneath a staircase and blocked from view by a dresser.
Authorities did not identify the girl, but said she had sometimes run away from home before she vanished last June.
"She is a child from troubled circumstances and found what she believed to be a friend," Bloomfield Police Capt. Jeffrey Blatter said.
I say lock up that repeat offender and throw away the key.
If this b@$t@%# is in Singapore, he would be facing life in jail + many strokes of caning.
Here are some interesting facts:
How many children are reported missing each year? (research done in 2002)
The U.S. Department of Justice reports
797,500 children (younger than 18) were reported missing in a one-year period of time studied resulting in an average of 2,185 children being reported missing each day.
203,900 children were the victims of family abductions.
58,200 children were the victims of non-family abductions.
115 children were the victims of “stereotypical” kidnapping. (These crimes involve someone the child does not know or someone of slight acquaintance, who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.)

I've seen a picture of a 5-year-old all around Gatwick Airport (London) yesterday. A lovely little English girl missing in Portugal... Broke my heart. Since then I hold Anastasia's hand pretty much all the time we're not inside the house.
