    Talking Snook this boys ...
So, it's Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) season here in and there's nothing better than spending a day in the water trolling for big bulls ...

We went out on a friend's 65 foot Hatteras on Friday and had an amazing time ... score, 4 huge bulls and one Wahoo, largest Dolphin was 38 lbs ...

Alan and Donuts, the invitation is open anytime ....

    That reminds me....it's lunch time!

Looks like you had a great day! I don't get to go fishing often and the last time I went (sail fishing off of Key West) we got totally blanked. We saw quite a few but didn't catch any.

    Well done!

Wow, those are some crazy looking fish! The only types I've really caught are trout, bass and catfish. Then again I'm not much of an ocean fisher.

    Scott,

They taste amazing, lil bit of lemon, salt and garlic, place them on a flat grill, let them cook and turn once. Mahi-Mahi is seved locally at many restaurants around south forida. When you come down next month, i'll make sure you can try them if you like ...

    - 6 wahoo fillets (about 6 oz. each)
    - 1 tsp. salt
    - 1/2 tsp. pepper
    - 4 tbsp. flour
    - 4 tbsp. unsalted butter (1/4 cup)
    - 1/4 cup Black rum
    - 3 large or 6 small bananas - sliced lengthwise
    - 2 tbsp. minced parsely
    - orange slices - halved

Mix the salt and pepepr with the flour and dredge the fillets in the mixutre. Shake off excess. Melt the butter in a saute pan and just as it starts to foam, add the fish, cooking both sides until just cooked.
Removed from pan and keep warm. Add the remaining butter to the pan, then the bananas and saute for 2 minutes.

Add the dark rum and ignite. Flambe for 2 minutes or until the flames die down. Pour over the fish. Garnish with banana slices, parsley and halved orange slices.

Or you could always just grill em

Great looking mahi mahi - dolphin - dorado AR.

That's an interesting design for a "net" too...

I caught a ton of Dorado in Mx last year, and for sure they are a great sport fish to battle. Looks like you guys had a great time. Sorry I couldn't take you up on the invitation to join the Pro-line gang, maybe next time

For the record, for those that are not aware that Mahi-Mahi is a game fish and not the "flipper" ...

The mahi-mahi was cooked and eaten this week.....it was simply amazing ...

Looking forward to another dolphin quest this weekend ...

dolphin, "flipper" and porpoise... (cetacean marine mammal)

mahi-mahi, dorado, dolphin... (oceanic game fish)

dolphins, dan marino, larry czonka, bob griese, don shula... (miami football greats)

the three are unrelated other than living near / in the ocean.

Andy caught mahi-mahi, which are delicious! One of the best eatin' fish you'll ever catch.

Glad he didn't post pictures of catching or eating the other types of dolphins.

    Sweet Score!

Never caught a fish that big before.
When I lived in FL I was more a bass and catfish fisher.

Here in the NW I've pulled trout out all day walking up and down some mountain rivers.

Bingo Donuts!! I have been waiting for someone to point out that one is a mammal and one is game fish. You just won a cold beer of choice in Miami. We Snook hunters know these things. hehehe

Flogging the Dolphin... a term describing the merciless beatings given to the Miami Dolphins the past few years.

Thanks for clarifying guys! I didn't think you would eat the mammal kind, but hey what do I know? lol and the mahi mahi were pretty ugly....

And we love the football variety... even long time Bills fans had to appreciate the team when it was great
