Any suggestions as to the best blog program to use where one can insert video,s?
Is it better to buy your own program?

Wordpress is very easy to use and is probably the most popular blogging framework - and it's free.

Check if your web hosting account has Fantastico support. If it does, then installation is just a few clicks: http://www.blogbelt.com/install_your_blog

Inserting video is a matter of pasting the HTML that YouTube gives you into your blog post: http://www.blogbelt.com/add-video-to-your-blog

There's also YouTube extensions available for WordPress. Whichever you find easiest.

Wordpress is my recommendation for the fact that you can host it yourself and it has the most flexibility I've seen by far.

Wordpress might be more flexible, but you can host a Blogger blog on your own host

I have embedded You Tube coding to place a video into my Blogger blog hosted on my own host -- that's easy.

If you are trying to host a "homespun video," I would think its all about the coding.

I have 2 blogs on my own hosting and 3 "private blogs" [i.e. I use them instead of using bookmarks] using blogspot.
    I'm happy with all five.

My host offers me a Wordpress blog but I think it's "limited" and I'm not sure if I can fiddle around with extensions on the "included Wordpress" bundled into the package they offer me?

i'm new to the industry, so i apologize if this is a stupid question. but, if you monetize your site by putting up banners on your "wordpress" blog, would you have to give wordpress a commission?

Another vote for WordPress here, far superior to Blogger.

Your comment reminded me that wordpress doesn't just have software. Make sure you only use the Wordpress software and NOT their free hosting.

Their free hosting doesn't allow monetization! They'll actually delete monetized blogs that use their free hosting.

So make sure to use your own host!

(I use Wordpress software on my own domains/own hosting.)

Wordpress and youtube here. Using youtube for your videos make sure you place a graphic on your videos with your url.

My videos are for viral traffic and I never heard of that site. Looks interesting if you have good videos though
