July is National Hot Dog Month
I only found out about this today and I never heard of it before but July is National Hot Dog Month.

What do you put on your hot dog?

I dabble with the tomato sauce, mustard and broken up little pieces of crisps.

Just mustard. In celebration of National Hot Dog Month, what are the best hot dogs? Had a thread about it 3 years ago:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread...light=hot+dogs

But we have new people since and we can talk about it in this thread. I still mainly buy Ballpark and as far as hot dogs you can buy at your local grocery store have heard/and tried Hebrew National and Nathan's. Last time I tried them not as good as I thought they would be but will do another test in July in honor of the month.

Since I did not grow up in North America my hot dog brand knowledge is limited but in Australia I would go to the butcher and buy the franks.

I'm with Mike. Mustard and onions only. In fact, I've got a hot date with Costco this evening for my favorite buckfiddy hot dog!

Grilled Hebrew National beef frankfurter (stay away from the reduced fat version), with hot deli mustard, relish, raw onions, and topped with baked beans.

And Costco has by far the best price anywhere for Hebrew Nat dogs.

Carolyn watch out for Costco trap! You go there with things in mind and you see other great things and end up spending $400 on one trip!

Wow! When I saw Carolyn posting, I figured should would say "Chicago Style". Those are my all-time favorites, but almost impossible to find around here. I know of two places that claim to serve them, but neither one gets it totally right. Neither uses poppy seed buns and one doesn't do celery salt.

Hebrew National is my favorite hot dog (Target has decent prices on them, too), although pretty much any all-beef hot dog tastes almost the same to me.

I haven't had too many Chicago dogs, but the best I ever had was at Dodger Stadium. For a coiuple of seasons, they sold a few specialty dogs, and the Chicago style one was authentic (just like Wikipedia recipe) and great, but waaaaaay to salty. Unfortunately they stopped selling them a 2-3 year ago.

I eat my hot dogs plain, occasionally with chili and cheese. Grilled/carmelized onions are also acceptable. Ketchup has no place on a hot dog and I'm not too fond of mustard tho' I tolerate it occasionally (but never on my dog).

I didn't have much appetite yesterday, but of all the things I found at the company cafeteria, a hot dog appealed to me most. So I ordered one. The lady at the counter looked at them, grimaced, and said "They don't look too good. I think you should stay away from them. I, personally, would not eat one." What was left of my appetite vanished and I ended up choking down some yogurt just to have something in my stomach.

I'm still in the mood for a hot dog tho' and it didn't even occur to me to go to CostCo! Perhaps I'll mosey on over there after work today and grab one for dinner.

    Hum....love hot dogs!

Dodger dogs, ball park, hebrew nat, cosco all with mustard and relish. Outside of special events in Los Angeles you find vendors that make bacon wrapped dogs with sauerkraut! YUM!

You do realize that some hot dog brands come with cheese already on the inside, right?

I like to keep it simple. Ketchup! That's the only topping I like. And I do have to say that the dogs you get at the cinema or stadiums are the best. Well, not the ones that have been resting their for hours.

Does anyone remember that Seinfeld episode about the hot dog in the theater? Ewww!

Ewww. Trust me. There's nothing identifiable as meat in most hot dogs.

Those don't count as hot dogs anyway** Got to have meat in it, same with burgers. I think the Sausage Council started this.
