Starwood Hotels has about 7 or 8 hotel brands. Westin, Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton each have separate affiliate programs managed by CJ's Boston area office. When searching for a hotel through one brand's link, it will display all available hotels among all of their brands in that city; however, if you book a hotel brand that is different from the brand link you click, you will not earn any commission. For example, I search through my Sheraton link for a hotel in Chicago but I end up booking one of the Westins that is displayed below the Sheratons. No commission. Talk about a leak!
Until a few months ago, they sent separate affiliate newsletters for each of the three brands. Now they send one affiliate newsletter that includes promotional material for all three brands. To me, that seems highly hypocritical. Clearly Starwood wants to cut costs by having CJ prepare and send one newsletter vs. three, yet they won't pay a commission on some of their affiliate-generated traffic.
CJ should not allow this.
