SunRocket voip going out of biz, Replacements?
Looking for recommendations for voip providers as I received this LOVELY emails today:

    ===

    Dear Customers,

After significant effort by the Company to avoid this result, SunRocket is in the process of closing its operations and therefore will no longer be able to provide you with the phone service that you have been accustomed to. However, this email provides you with an opportunity to sign up with select service providers who we believe will offer outstanding replacement service.

In order to assist you, we have entered into negotiations with a number of service providers. As a result of those negotiations, we have entered into agreements with 8x8, Inc., provider of the Packet8 service, and Unified Communications Corp., provider of Teleblend service to offer you the best options and we are proud to recommend the following alternatives to you. Please make your decision to move to a new service provides immediately as future service is uncertain.

    SunRocket Customer Problems
    Patrick,

sorry that you were one of the 200k customers that were out of a voip service today.

check out some of the comparison voip sites to see which plan you like.

Pingo launched an affiliate voip coupon for old sunrocket customers that i'll post in the coupon section.

    Brian,

VOIP and calling cards are two different segments of the market. Even thought it is within the communication vertical, it's 2 different target market.

It's like comparing a house wireless phone by Vtech versus a wireless-cell phone by Nokia. Both are wireless but 2 different target market.

    I jsut switch to Vonage.

I just started using the telephone service provided by my cable company (Cox Communications). Service has been great and I'm saving on my overall bill because of incentives they offer for purchasing bundles (internet, phone, cable).

Vonage is about the only VOIP affiliate alternative for now, but how long that will last is in question because they are having legal issues that are uncertain.

Besides SunRocket, Vonage is the only big player in that market. They have been facing some tough times though

    to SKE9963,

I was only trying to point out that pingo's virtual calling card service can be used as a tool to compliment a customers home voip solution.

Sunrocket's rate to India was 8 cents a min vs Pingo at 7.3. So some of our customers use pingo to save them some money on there international calls OR to use Pingo when you want to be on the go. Since Pingo works on your cell phone.

I'm not sure everyone should just jump to vonage. Check out some voip comparison sites and you'll see seom rising companies that offer some strong payouts and more competitive voip packages.

Any one having any luck or prefer to promote a voip product, other then Vonage?

good luck to all that need to make the sunrocket switch.

And which part of your posting below is a compliment of Pingo to VOIP?

I think affiliates are looking for SunRocket's competitor to subsitute links, not compliment.

At the end of the day, you are still in the pre-paid phone card industry in the telecommunications vertical.

Free calls within U.S., Canada and Mexico.
    1) Most VOIP, YES
    2) Pingo, NO

Can I take my equipment and call US for free?

I noticed that since SunRocket went under, you have been posting a lot about Pingo and SunRocket (coupon forum, Linkshare and Midnight cafe) eventhough they are totally unrelated. Common, stay classy.

    voip options
    ske9963,

I'm agreeing with you one your points made. Our service is not an unlimited long distance plan. However we are owned by a publicly traded company that has clients like Skype that fit this model.

My point is that this solution does compliment your current home voip solution to make International calls to people outside of your voip network for less. As mentioned, there is no equipment to buy and you can use our product while your on the go, to make calls from your cell phone or anywhere.

I agree with you on your points, such as, we may not be the full subsitute link. But we do have a nice solution for affiliates to up sell, when promoting an unlimited long distance voip service.

I hope we are on the same page with both our points made.

Well I'm also one of the 200K former SR customers who lost its one and only phone service. Thats a mistake, allowing myself to rely on voip service for my one and only phone service. Though ske9963 is correct about VoIP and calling cards having different market, I jumped with Onesuite because they have prepaid calling cards and VoIP service plus fax service all in one web based account.

what I like most about Onesuite aside from the "all-in-one" account is their cheap monthly fee of $2.95. I mean where can you get a VoIP service for only $2.95 (you'll get a phone number)with incoming calls free?

For almost a month now since I started using Onesuite, I never encounter major problems and most of the time gives me good voice quality.

If others goes to vonage or what not, I went with Onesuite because it suits my needs and my budget.

Btw, I'm still thinking of getting a landline or a cellphone for back up just in case Onesuite will have downtime or something.

For some reason I'd never trust $2.95 a month Voip service. I am a gambling man and I'd bet they will o belly up at that price.

I've used Onesuite before (maybe that was from 2002 to 2003) but they were just a phone card then without VoIP service until about 2 months ago when they launched their SuiteAdvantage. And reading on some forums like dslreports.com, Onesuite has been in the business since 1999 so I guess they won't be bellying up.

But if you insist I'll take your bet gambling man

    Hey Tony...spit it out.

I'm pretty sure it will help someone looking for a voip hardware.

In fact I'm interested on ATA or stand alone IP phone to use along with my Onesuite SuiteAdvantage.
