July 23rd, 2007, 08:40 AM #1No More Bundled Adware?
I have noticed as I find PC games for my kids that virtually every game is on a trial basis. You download the game and you have a limited time (60 minutes in many cases) to try the game. Then you have to buy the game or game service. Same thing with music. I read the download agreements carefully to make sure I am not getting adware bundled in. I am not seeing any extra software being included. This seems to be the new model for revenue with games/music/software with so many people having adware-removal software on their computers. This World is Not My Home
We're gonna go inside, we're gonna go outside, inside and outside. . . And then we're gonna go go go and we're not gonna stop til we get across that goalline! Quotes from the movie Rudy, 1993

Although it would be nice if bundling went away, I would be really surprised if that was the case. Otherwise how would Zango/180 Solutions pay for the shinny building they have here in Bellevue, WA?
I think what is most likely the case is that certain distributors are being more wary of how they are promoting their downloads due to FTC fines and public perception. It's a good sign, since making anything we can do to help limit the amount of adware out there is a good thing. But the adware folks are far from being down for the count when it comes to bundling.

Wish someone would find a way to make this work for marriage. Free trial, if it doesn't work you just uninstall it and try the next one.
