    Greeting Card Notifications
Has anyone else been getting these (with a "click this link" invitation") in excessive numbers over the past few days?

I have been receiving tons of these at all e-mail addresses, including those that are not listed anywhere online at all...

    Geno -

Sounds like a virus/worm making the rounds.

    Best delete them.

I wonder how it gets to e-mail addresses not listed anywhere. Do they have a way of sending a spam e-mail to all e-mail addresses associated with a server?

    Depends on many things -
are you 100% sure that the email isn't listed? maybe it's coming from a contact whose system has been compromised?

is your server configured to have a catch all address?

Hmmm... Could it be that they got my address from their address book?

Then either your email is listed somewhere or it's coming from a compromised system.

I was told by one of my hosting companies that once you have a domain or even an email anywhere it is only a matter of time before you are found. Some spammers use a program that just randomly creates addresses to try.

I'm getting a lot of those greeting card spam emails too and to many different addresses. I'm also gettting a lot of emails with no text and just a PDF attachment. I never opened any of them so I don't know the PDF contains but I get about 30 or 40 of those a day.

I have been getting a lot of those lately as well

Subject line states: You have received a greeting card from your schoolmate, from your friend, cousin, boss...the ending is always diiferent.

I dont open them, I delete them all. I did open the first, it hung my computer.

There were some that showed i sent them to myslef, the senders email and receivers email address being same.

Plus there is another spam I am getting a lot of with title from US Medical Association...

Those greeting card spams have been making the rounds for at least a month best I can tell from my various email accounts.

New one to us is an email with a list of jumbled words. Don't know the purpose there or why you would glance twice after seeing it. But getting lots of those too.

Thank goodness for Cloudmark on my desktop and barracuda on our servers. Cause I am seeing it all in spam filters thank goodness.

I read something the other day - sorry, I can't for the life of me remember where - but the greeting card ones are a virus loader if you click the link. The article went on to say that the egreeting card companies like Hallmark and Blue Mountain had warnings on their site.

I've gotten hundreds of these across my accounts lately.

I posted about these in one of my forums a few weeks ago to warn my members. Ever since, I have been inundated with Google hits from people looking for information about them. (if I was monetizing it, I would be thrilled--LOL!).

I've noticed that they are sending them to every single email that I have. Ones that are dummy addresses listed on my sites as well as the ones that I use to work with all of my merchants. It started with the greeting card ones and then spread to the pdfs. Now it is the US Medical Association ones and fewer of the greeting cards.

I tested the greeting card one just so that I could tell my members what it would do (in a safe environment). It did start to load a trojan horse via some kind of javascript.

OMG I've been deleting thousands of those greeting card emails for weeks. Grrrrrrrrr

I also got blasted with an email monster a few days ago where I was getting thousands of "undeliverable" emails an hour. Got so bad, I was afraid to download mail ... It's better but still getting them, just hundreds an hour now, not thousands. This makes me crazy, thinking my email is being spoofed and some creep is using it to send all this bad email.

A few years ago, there was a virus going aorund with "undeliverable" mail - a friend told me how to block them from coming through my server. Thought it was still in place but guess I'll have to implement it again.

I'm sure I've deleted may legitimate emails with the chunks I was deleting at a time to get rid of them. Spammers and spooffers need to be kicked in the a55 so hard, their heads will fly off.
    Peace,

I keep getting a bunch of emails with just a name on like doc or something, but no words inside, just a file attachement that I won't open.

    Oh God, Don't remind me
I've been getting tons of those annoyances to EVERY email address. Actually, I think the only address of mine that hasn't received them is my GMail?

Is GMail working for anyone else? Or maybe the spammers just haven't found that one yet...

On a slightly-related note, does anyone get those phone calls on their cell phone from Collection Agencies looking for the LAST person or TWO that owned that number?
