I was just looking at my server logs and saw that I have a referrer from http://www.iaea.org. That’s the International Atomic Energy Agency tasked with overseeing the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. Now I’m not Iraqi or even North Korean. I don’t own a power plant and I don’t have anything on my site dealing with fission, fusion, or even fishing. Any ideas on how this showed up. By the way, they aren’t linking to me. It’s a PR 8 page so I wish they would!

Sounds like our tax dollars at work. Federal employees shopping on government time. You just gotta love it

It might just be that they were at the International Atomic Energy Agency website then typed in your url in their browser or they could have been on yoursite first, typed in www.iaea.org then clicked on "BACK"

No, it has to be something going on with the iaea thing.

It hasn't happened in a few months, but for a while I was getting the same thing several times a day.

    It's a mystery to me.

I went back and had another look. My stats program classifies it as a spider. Its hit my site about 24 time in the past 4 weeks. The IP address belongs to AOL. IMHO, I doubt the IAEA and the UN would use AOL. (I’ll try and hold down the use of the acronyms FWIW). Could someone fool server logs into thinking their spider came from somewhere it didn’t?

I get it too -- multiple times each and every month. Drives me nuts.

I've had the spider on a Domain registering site many many many times. also, might be a "masked" bot (it's easy enough to do).
