What Affiliate Networks are the Best for a New Merchant?
I am a merchant and am wanting to join an affiliate program. Can anyone let me know what programs they like best and why. I would like feedback from merchants and affiliates.

Here are a list of possible choices I am looking at:
    CJ
    Linkshare
    AvantLink
    ShareASale
    Performics
    ClixGalore
    FusionQuest
    ShareResults
    Any others.......

    Thanks

SaS gets my vote. Friendly to affiliates, not to parasites, timely payments, quality support, active participation on ABW. Oh, and they don't cost an arm and a leg.

    Hard to beat.

As a merchant management partner I'd have to say SAS

As an affiliate, I only sell Hunter Douglas in the UK. [Private deal]

I'd say it depends on your business model and type. If your B2C share-a-sale, B2B you might do better in CJ. Share a Sale will always treat you the best though and give you the most support. They are great.

Ohh and btw, you're needing an affiliate network, not a program. You being a merchant means that you will be running an affiliate program.

Yeah, but SEARCH involves work. Some of those other networks are easy money.

I use CJ for their statistical tools and extremely wide variety of recognizable merchants.

I don't use LS anymore because they rarely return my emails and I just don't make that much money with them.

I've tried to make SAS work, but despite all the high recommendations, their programs have just plain not converted for me at all. They also don't have many recognizable merchants in their programs, which often makes it hard to find a good fit for their ads on my sites.

Don't forget Amazon, Kontera, and Google as well.

    manwar, welcome to ABestWeb!

Looks like you're looking at "affiliate networks" (not "affiliate programs").

Q.: What exactly is an affiliate network?
A.: Affiliate networks are essentially mediators connecting affiliates with affiliate programs, providing tracking and maintenance services to the latter. They are sometimes also called “affiliate solution providers” (ASP’s), as no additional software is required for the merchant to start and run an affiliate program if they decide to use an affiliate network.

Yes, Buy.at (if you are merchant of the caliber and size they are focused on). Good solid network, a rising star among the top affiliate networks of the world. ...and, of course, ShareASale.

manwar, your choice of network will depend on several factors, including what exactly it is that you sell, what you are looking for in an affiliate network, what budget have you set aside for your affiliate marketing campaign, etc...

These polls may be a good point to start at:

...and then, of course, do use that "Search" button. It will help you pull up many discussions on the exact question you're asking.

They do have a few, but ShareASale, as far as I understand, focuses more on small- and medium-sized companies... An individual affiliate's conversion rate is also highly dependent on what niches the affiliate focuses on... As mentioned elsewhere my own conversion ratio at SaS ranges from circa .4% to close to 5% (depending on the niche).

It depends on what niche you're focusing in, but I love avantlink. Their reporting is great, their programs are completely clean, there's no nonsense about charging affiliates for datafeeds or selling merchants on 'naked links' at affiliates' expense, I could go on.

Yep, AvantLink is cool. I am just exploring it now, but really like what they offer on the merchant side of things too.

I like Share-A-Sale, but I use CJ & LinkShare, lol , because SAS don't have Merchants I promote.

SAS and AvantLink are my favorites and I make plenty at both.

There are legit reasons to look at CJ and LS as well, they are the big players in the industry - it'll cost you more and being new, you're going to have an expensive education because both places are filled with tricksters (they're attracted to the larger merchants and poor enforcement there). I'll add that I wouldn't be interested in reviewing your program if you landed at either.

You other listed networks aren't for me either.

Geno's post #11 above contains links to the polls taken here, definitely review those.

Your shortest route to success is to hire an ABW-engaged OPM to run your affiliate program. Their forums are listed here:

    Good luck!

ShareASale all the way. You would be wise to listen to a Pro like Donuts, and make sure to review the polls.

SAS and Avantlink. Parasite free, ethical and honest. They have the trust of the affiliates.

Looks like the 2007's poll for the best affiliate program of the year will be interesting...
