    Supplemental Tag Gone
Just posting it since I figured it'll come up later and the official word has been out for about 5 days now already:

"Given all the progress that we've been able to make so far, and thinking ahead to future improvements, we've decided to stop labeling these URLs as "Supplemental Results." Of course, you will continue to benefit from Google's supplemental index being deeper and fresher."

So still a supplemental index, they just removed the tag. So now you can't really tell what's in the supplemental index and what isn't. Unless there's a way I'm not aware of.

doesn't it all come down to the serp anyway?

they claim their are digging deeper and showing more of the (sup) results, but i see it as spin on how to keep SEO guessing.

All in all regardless of what they call it, if your not on the first page of results it's time to figure out what those people are doing that you are not. Wouldn't hurt if g found a way to make the results more relevant while they are at these changes...they have been lacking for a while.. imho

I've tried every suggestion for getting out of supplimental hellhole since submitting a verified sitemap.xml 1-1/2 years ago. No luck. All the tricks to steal a sites 5 year old PR5 rank have succeeded. Took forever to get the inbound links farms to fall out of Google or get banned. Part of the hazzards of being well known at ABW for outing the bastards.

I noticed that they freshened it. Which sucks, because I was making sales off those old 404 pages they had been leaving in there.

For my other sites, though, good if they do freshen it more. It's irritating when they don't pick up a change until it's already obsolete, and combined with the seemingly-random supplementalizing, it was even worse.

And I just thought I had all my pages in the primary index, silly me!

This totally screws my strategy of gauging performance on keywords....

Man I love when google tries to be more mysterious. The more they do things like this the more likely it is people will need SEOs to understand what is going on.

They do say that there will be a way to track what is considered supplemental by using webmaster tools. Or you can look at the number of pages they show normally before cutting them off as the rest are basically the same, then compare that to the total number of pages in. You can get a percentage of pages suplemental fairly easy.

The following search should show you which pages are in the Google main index:

    site:www.example.com/*

That also shows supplemental pages but now you just can't tell which ones they are
