    Wordpress Import help
Does anyone have a way to import a very large number (10k+) of posts into Wordpress? I have a spreadsheet that I can convert to postable info, but then need to get it all into Wordpress without adding each post individually.

No, it isn't to spam anything It's actually for me to be able to review some stuff before it goes public.

Is it in a format that Wordpress 2.+ can't import itself? I thought they added that function.....

Hmmm. Just looked. Looks like you have to get it into RSS format.

Then my answer is no. I don't Unless you can convert it to RSS.

Ok, I haven't done this yet. However, Excel 2007 can save a spreadsheet as XML. You can then import that XML file into WordPress (I believe it supports LiveJournal XML imports as well as RSS). That would be the easiest way, but I don't know how well it would do. I would try with a smaller test file to begin with.

Ah yes! NG is right. Livejournal XML will move in. I had forgotten about that.

Do you need category structure and what not?

I haven't bought Excel 2007 yet, guess this is my cue to go ahead and do that. I have a 60 trial on my new computer, but when I was testing the 2007 beta they had disabled the xml features. Hopefully the trial has them included. Was putting off installing it until I really needed it

    Thanks nakedgamer and Noth

I think I love both of you Excel might not do what I wanted it to, but it does something else really cool. May make is so I can announce a much anticipated datafeed sooner rather than later. Off to yell at... er... talk to ... a merchant about something. "If I can do this why can't you????" is about how the conversation may be going.....

Sweet! As I often tell my wife, it's hard for me to turn the genius switch off. She loves it when I say that...
