    Twiceler - cuill.com --- ring any bells
My sites are getting pounded by the twiceler bot from cuill.com that I thought was a Google-like development. While the pounding on my bandwidth is noticeable I can handle it - I'm just beginning to wonder - should I? Any thoughts or information?

I was pounded by this bot myself. I emailed the address on the website and it bounced because it wasn't abiding my robots.txt. I ended up banning their entire IP range.

What is their entire IP range so we can all use it and what do we need to put in our file to block it.

It won't obey my robots. txt files either.

    These are what I've got:

    deny from 38.99.13.125
    deny from 38.99.44.

Most came from the 44 IP, so I'm not sure how effective the 13.125 was.

Rather than ban the IPs (which could change and/or not all be accounted for) just ban the bot.

    Add this to your .htaccess:

    Code:
    SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent .*Twiceler.* bad_bot

    order allow,deny
    deny from env=bad_bot
    allow from all

Thank you. I put it into my htaccess file.

    Now we'll see what happens.

    This seems to have worked.

Twiceler has been on my site continually every day for 6 weeks.

It went away after I added this to the .htaccess file and hasn't been on the site since then.

    Excellent, I'm glad to help!

What actually happens is they will get a 403 Forbidden error, which you'll still be able to see in your logs. Once they get this error, the bot probably just stops trying.
