    Paused Keywords for Content Network
    Hello,

I was curious if anybody knows, or preferably has a good link to the following question:

Do paused keywords affect placement on the content network? Is it ever better to delete keywords or ads rather than just pausing them?

    Thanks,
    JAA

I test multiple type Adwords campaigns for clients and do use the "pause" function. No effect on the "resume" function's cost per click or traffic. As a matter of fact revising the text Ads, or completely replacing them with banner Ads, often generates better CTR and way better conversion ratios. More surprising by lowering the min. bid on content and site targeting Ads, using the above senerio, doubled the conversion ratio on the same daily spend.

Obviously Google's Adwords commitment for producing more targeted clicks shows when their system serves up 87% of impressions via banners, over text Ads, on mixed campaign adsense content campaigns. Of course this doesn't apply much to ABW affiliates who can't/won't make a clickable banner Ad, finding it easier to poach someone's one sentence text Ad or think TradeMark/Merchant Name +

    Better conversions from banners?!

That's completely opposite of what I would have expected...

Content network results have been spotty at best. Are you saying the use of banners is generating equal or greater results there than text in general search?

Like I said Google Adwords, with hooks to Analytics, feeds the content network 80% banner Ad impressions, then the ever present text Ad impressions. Must be due to a combo of higher CTR and conversions. Text Ads on the Google search pages still are more expensive and convert well below natural SERPs and direct traffic.
