    Google - Keyword Alt Text
I just don't follow how to use this option.

Can someone give me the tips and tricks of this feature?

Or should it be used at all?

    Hi Dan,

Alt text is an element within the image tag. To use it you place alt="alt text goes here" in the <img> tag.

    Example: <img src="/theimagesource.gif" alt="Alt Test goes here">

    Hope this helps.

I guess I should have added that placing relavant keywords into the alt text seems to be good for Google PR. I tend to lean towards the ideal of "make your pages user friendly and PR will follow". So don't "stuff" keywords into the alt tag. Instead insert relavant info that is useful to visitors. Remember that these tags are also heavily utilised by browsers for the visually impaired.

Link and image "alt" and "title" tags are very useful for Google but like Canadian Dave said they should not be used to put irrelevant keywords on your page. Google will penalize sites that do this. There is a whole section on Google's site regarding tags and stuffing. What we call stuffing they call cloaking but that is not redirect cloaking, it is hiding keywords from viewers while "showing" them to Googlebots - and they will penalize you for it.

If I'm not mistaken, you need the alt tag depending on how you are trying to validate your page. Something I'm wondering about though... Does Google favor a page better if it validates properly?

Alt tags were created for browsers that didn't show images. They are also helpful to vision disabled persons to help them understand the image. Back in the dial-up Internet era some views would disable images to speed-up downloads. They are a legacy tag that have been taken advantage of for SEO.

My error, I was asking about the alt text field in Adwords not a webpage.

Sorry for not making that clear.

in cases where your triggered keyword is too long, the default text gets inserted instead.
