If your site disappears from Google all of a sudden and you have exhausted all other theories you should read this post.
It's a little technical but interesting that is can happen at all.

I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has ever been a victim of this or other forms of Google Bowling.
There's a lot of talk of this type of stuff, but perhaps its like worrying about a plane crash while driving seatbelt unbuckled.
But perhaps I'm wrong. Any horror stories?

That's a long but very interesting article. In the past, I have seen this being done before where there is a www dot someproxy dot com / followed by and actual website address. You would think that would be relatively easy for a bot to label the proxy as a duplicate.
