One picture you will NEVER get to see.......
In a weak moment this afternoon, I allowed my wife to fulfill one of her deepest fantasies........ I allowed her to color my hair.

My hair is dark, deep, black, black hole black, blacker than any black you've ever imagined, even beyond the depths of imaginings black.

It goe so well with my salt and pepper beard and mustache, you hardly notice it.

    No, actually,

I cannot possibly walk into the public like this.

My wife's solution is to cut the hair really short.... but I am afraid to do that right now, since I might end up with, well, a crappy haircut AND horribly, mutatively black hair.

Let her do the beard and mustache too and I'll pay for pictures. Of course I'll charge you more not to release them to the rest of ABW.

Ummm, no, I'm fairly certain posting a pic of my hair would constitute a bannable offense.

Yeah, the first attempts at haircolor are always bad.

I remember bleaching my own hair. Once I got it down it worked very well, but the first 3 tries ended up really clowny looking! And unlike dye, with bleach, the tries can't be done one right after another. I had to wait a couple of weeks in between each attempt--prolonging the clown-effect.

But, once I got it down, the results were indistinguishable from the pros. It's those first attempts that are the killers! Fortunately, I didn't have to go out much during that time

My wife's solution is to cut the hair really short....
It's actually a good solution if you're going to go back to your normal color. Just wait until enough new hair grows out that you can chop off all the YIKESage and get an intentional-looking brush cut out from the rest. But pay for a real barber to do it, or else (assuming she doesn't usually do haircuts either) you'll get a n00b cut to go with the n00b dye job

    ROTFLMAO!!!!

OMG! Didn't you get it by now that wifes want to take out any frustration they have with you through tricks like this. "Oh, let's see how your hair will look like this." LIKE SHE DOESN"T KNOW!! Trust me, I've had my fair share of tricks played on me. I don't fall for such tricks any more. So, the best cure, is prevention.

As for a solution.... go bald!!! Hey, bald is cool now. Some women say that bald men are sexier. The truth is though, that bald men came up with that phrase. LOLOL!!!

Okay, a brief update, just for closure's sake, lol. Yesterday, I cracked under the pressure, and asked her to buzz me. We figured less hair, less color, that would be fine. However, the buzz brought out this nice iridescent green. So, a second attempt took care of the green, but now I have this red tinting with a little dash of purple for luck.

The funny thing is, my wife used to own a salon, she is an excellent stylist, just the one color she screws up is on her husbands hair, lol. She is distraught not just because she screwed up her husband's hair, but because people might think heck, she can't even color her husbands hair, I'm not letting her touch mine, lol.

So, I am deciding whether I will just live with a youthful, black/red/purple style until it grows out enough to whack off, or try for black once again.

So,my hair looks better, in the sense that the light absorbing blackness is gone, but I do really need to lose the purple, hehe.

rematt- Hmmm, no, I really think I'll have to pass on that. I'm still trying to find the polaroid my wife stashed somewhere in the house of me sitting on the toilet! ( I can't believe I just wrote that out on a board ) .

Staril- ......I'm thinking, and I don't think I missed anything lately! Our anniversary is late November. I do need to think about making some arrangements for a getaway that weekend. There is a new casino that opened up in southern Indiana last year, I think we will go there for the day.

Others, thanks for the posts, I'm just going to wash the s*** out of it, and live with what happens. In two weeks, heck I will have it buzzed again, and the gloriously gray me will appear again.

Tough hair in my old age?? I don't get it.

This whole thread reminds me of my childhood. My older brother, when he was about 13 and I would've been about 6, decided along with a couple of buddies that they wanted red hair.

They bought some red clothing dye. Whoo Hoo! You gotta remember, this was in about 1953-54, LOONNNGGG before all the punk styles and hair doings.

    Finally wore off, washed out.

    OMG - that's too much!

I color my hair regularly, and tried to go "one shade darker" one time. The color was so black that I looked like Elvira - really goth! I lived with it for one day (and gasped every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror), and then I went to a salon to have the color corrected. Ever since then, I have my hair colored at a salon.

    Shave it off...go bald!

I'm a pro at this...been going for the shaved head for 10 years now (when i'm not too lazy to break out the razor.)

Step 1. If you have hair, clipper it down as far as you can.
Step 2. Get in shower. Bring a mirror.
Step 3. Let the shower get really steamy and wash/condition the crap out of your dome (soften that hair up).
Step 4. Use a lot more shaving cream than you think you need and lather up one head quadrant at a time (left side, right side, top, back).
Step 5. Shave head, also one quadrant at a time.
Step 6-9. Repeat 4-5 on a different head quadrant.

IMPORTANT: To get the really slick chrome dome you need to shave against the direction the hair grows. Be very gentle and careful to only pass the blade across each stretch of skin once. If you do it more than once you'll irritate the heck out of your head and cause ingrown hairs.

Step 10. Rinse head and clean up the spots you missed, but very carefully.

I find that my head gets really oily after I shave it, so I carry around baby wipes, head wipes, or something like that and use an oil-inhibiting face treatment (like proactive) to keep me from looking like a Mickey Dee's fryer. Or you can dust your dome with talc. I also find that doing this more than 1-2x/week irritates my skin.

How I ended up in this thread, I don't know, but when I read Joe's detailed instructions on head shaving, I had to post.

Joe, you have got to contact Gillette for a copywriting job.
