    Amazon Cookies
    Hello Friends,
I'm new to this forum. I'm going to promote amazon products. Before I do it I'd like to clarify one issue. Does amazon affiliate program have cookies? if yes, how long is the duration of cookies?

In advance thank you for the reply

Their tracking is cookie-based, and I believe the cookie life is set at 24 hours.

24 hours is very little time. can you recommend any affiliate program who has digital cameras for cheap prices and is reliable?

To be honest with you, WM, I have not personally worked with any, and hence cannot recommend any.

Amazon is still a very good affiliate program, and you may want to run a comparative experiment between their program and any other ones before you decide on which to go with (your best choice may end up going with several).

    To find other ones:

    1) Search:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...am&btnG=Search

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...am&btnG=Search

    and

    2) Join ShareASale, CommissionJunction, LinkShare, Performics, etc... and search their merchants for this product.

    Best of luck to you!

Comparing the bottom line results side by side, Amazon.com often performs better than many merchants that have better prices, longer cookies, and higher commissions. There's a lot to be said for the brand recognition that Amazon.com has.

Just to amplify, the brand recognition that Michael refers to means that customers know the Amazon brand and are sometimes more comfortable buying from Amazon than from less-known merchants.

Even though they've reduced their commission rates over the years, it's still possible to make money with Amazon.

Just don't do TOO well with them or you'll get into the "special" program.

    I learned the other day
I learned the other day that the amazon cookie is 24 hrs or 1 transaction. so if your visitor buys the cookie is over, even if they go back the same day and buy again.

We lost a lot of sales because of this during book season.

I am confuse a little bit about cookies, assume we promote via PPC , if there are 5 ads , if customer clicked to many ads (which couples of ads) are landing to Amazon. I would like to know in this case, who will get the commission?

A lot of Amazon sales commissons come from items users place in their shopping cart and then purchase later. The commission duration for shopping cart items is 90 days.
There's good, fast and cheap. Pick any two.

Agreed with the above about the Amazon brand. Their prices are usually the best as well and their $25 free shipping feature helps with conversions. I've run side-by-side tests with selling disney movies with Amazon vs. Disney. Amazon won by a long shot.

However, their reporting is misleading. When they report your conversion rate they count each item as a seperate order, which isn't a conversion rate at all.

Example. 10 clicks, 1 order placed of 5 items. Their reporting would say a 50% conversion rate, when it's actually 10%. That's a little shady.
