I just clicked an affiliate product link from my site to Amazon and on the product page found this:
"Customers viewing this page may be interested in these Sponsored Links"
These are Amazon "advertiser" links. I've sent an email to Amazon about this, asking if we are compensated for any sales from our visitors made on these sites.
Does anyone know if this is, in fact, a HUGE leak or if these are Amazon products we'll be paid commission on?

Ick, even less reason to promote Amazon. I really don't like the way they treat their affiliates.

There's a thread about it around here somewhere, IIRC.There is no knowledge that is not power. ~Hemingway

Got this response from Amazon:
"Items the customer may buy from another web site do not qualify for referral fees."

Amazon has been running "sponsored ads" for a long time, certainly at least a couple of years. I first learned of it when I saw Amazon product pages as the referring-URLs for traffic through my AdWords campaigns. As noted, this is one of a very long list of "defects" in Amazon's affiliate program, but to Amazon's credit these ads usually appear quite far below-the-fold.
