Is there anyway I can see my log stats in real time? Or at least more than once per day? (thats how often my host updates them). Is this normal?

I have the option to download a "raw access log" but I don't know what I'm suppose to do with it or what it is

Raw access log is where your stats come from.

I like analog to read them. www.analog.cx

You won't get your stats until you DL the log files, though some servers make hourly logs available.

You can set awstats to update the log however often you want. I have mine set to update every 15 minutes.

Try asking your host to change the update to however often you want. Maybe they'll change it.

Thanks weisinator, downloaded it and trying to figure it out

cditty, is that something my host would have to do or can I edit a file somewhere so that it updates every 15 min?

You should be aware that the crunching of raw log data into nice graphs and reports is pretty intensive for the server - which is why hosts tend to do it once a day (usually about 4am).

It also means they're often reluctant to do it more often.

Running a log analysis package locally (on your PC) typically means setting up perl or php to run on it - since that's what most of them are written in.

... at least, I never found a windows package that would do the job.

    Javi,
yes, there's a config file to update. Just search for awstats in google to find their site. They got good faqs.

But you must run this by your hosting company first. Stat programs increases load on the server, and if to many were to do what you want to do the server would likely go down.

Go to http://www.xav.com/ and click onaxs vistor tracking system. If you are unable to upload the code they will do it for you. You will have real time stats with no banner.
