Current Atlantic Conditions - May Bore Most
Ok, I'm a weather hound, and I'm bored, and was just looking at the latest loop. Graphical elements added by me (I told you I was bored).

The green arrows indicate where the streams/currents/etc are shifting to. While Felix is probably just going to continue it's path across Central America and head off in to the Pacific, the flow off the west coast of South America is pushing WNW. The flow in the Gulf is shifting NNW. And the flow from the Southeast US is heading ESE, sort of pulling the Gulf flow up towards the Texas coast.

The disturbance off the east coast of Florida is currently wobbling ENE. Still trying to figure it out. It depends on where the Southeast US flow moves. I think the storm to the east of it is just a storm.

There's a new wave coming off the coast of Africa. May do nothing, but the current flow brings it right out in to a normal path a good wave can take to intensify.

Of course these trends will change in a couple to a few days, so this really means nothing except me speculating.

    Sorry for the boring post.

Not boring at all. I have always been meteorologically inclined. :

In fact, I used to teach high school earth science and we did an exercise on tracking a hurricane on graph paper - using lat/long coordinates of the eye (that were spaced a few hours apart). Sorry, right now I can't remember too many details, but believe the storm was in the late 50s or 60s, but the path traced nearly a perfect figure-8 out in the Atlantic before heading into shore in the Carolinas.

So, to me anyway, hurricane charts, projections, speculation, or what-have-you are not boring.

    danay,

Missed that location part...truly hoping for a quite year for you! Have there been any news stories about how high gators are putting their clutches? Sounds funny but they some how know well in advance of when the high water is coming.
