What time of day is best to post to Digg?
I've noticed a surge of web browsing each weekday from about 7:00 to 9:00 pm. That's when my google adsense impressions jump up considerably (along with clicks), which are near real-time... I check every 10 or 15 minutes sometimes while I get a feel for what's working and what's not.

Do you notice that as well?

Does it make you think "Hmm... even if I posted to my blog this morning, I'll wait until tonight to submit it to Digg"?

I mean, if I submit now for the article I just posted on one of my blogs, it'll be off the radar in a few hours... but if I submit it tonight then there's a greater chance that it'll get dugg.

You do submit your own articles to Digg don't you?

7 - 9 pm in what time zone? And it might be your site demographics and not across the board. Plus google doesn't really report in "real time", there are definite lags.

I wouldn't assume that is when your site is getting the most traffic. Install Google analytics or another stats package and look at the time of day reports from that. You may be surprised.

Interesting theory though about time of day to submit to Digg, apart from when your site gets traffic, when are people "Digging" is a better question.

There is a definite difference when posting to digg at different times. Here's my take, as I've experimented a bit:

For a long time I'd been posting at around midnight EST. The theory was late at night there were less new stories being submitted, so you'd have more time on the first upcoming stories page and therefore more of a chance for random people to dig it.

I still believe that's the right method, as most of my actual popular stories came in overnight.

However, I've recently started submitting at random times and there really hasn't been that much of a difference. So I'm starting to question...

How do you even put the digg icon/widget on your site for readers to digg your posts? (I'm so lost....)
