OK, So you have found the perfect merchant. The merchandise fits your site perfectly and should sell well with your content and traffic, but you could sell so much more if only your dream merchant would provide "blank".

You'll need something that gives you permanent placement in the natural SERPs.... not just some SEO tricks. I call it customer facing content that's identifiable with the more common search terms used by buyers for this product or productline. Key is it can't be the typical Merchant Name/ Product Brand + coupon as that'll be exploited to death by affiliate competitors.
Think about what would work for the actual merchant who'd know the combo of natural SERP + PPC slot = consistant sales. First is finding someone able to write better customer facing content then offered by the chosen merchant. That makes the product and landing page something special in the eyes of the shopper.Webmaster's... Mike and Charlie

The first thing that comes to mind is price. So if the merchant offered a popular product at the lowest price it would be easier to run ppc and convert. But are there marketing tools, widgets, custom programming that would make your life as an affilate easier?
It seems that customized landing pages would help also. Great ideas! Keep em coming!
