Almost done but I need some help!
Okay, so the wedding i like 10 days away and I feel like we are no where near done. I thought we already had the DJ stuff done, but came to find out last night, that she didn't even know where the reception was or at what time, let alone a schedule and songs ... ugh...

Anyhow, I am picking the songs for the 3 major dances...

Our first dance .... song: Dear Love by Anthony Hamilton
Father/Daughter .... Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlise (sang at my dad's wedding for his wife and dad walking down the isle, and my dad gave me a book one year about this song for my special christmas present.
Mother/Son ... this is where I need help.

If I ask Derrick, I am sure he will be like "I have to dance more than once?" and shrug his shoulders, and his mom will just shy away from the subject. So I need some help picking out agood song for them to dance to...? Or a song that we can do both dances at the same time, and scrap butterfly kisses?

    Thank you thank you!

Van Morrison - "Have I told You Lately"
Billy Joel - "Just The Way You Are"

Sly And The Family Stone, "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"

It's a fast dance but it's way fun. Great horns. Works for father/daughter and mother/son.

    Ten days, huh? Whee!

My vote goes for "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion.

Good luck to you on the selection process and enjoy your wedding day!

Lol .. Derrick isn't much of a dancer, especially not fast dancer .. lol.

I think Celine Dion is out as well as Wind Beneath my Wings. I am trying not to be too mushy for him, and those are songs I know I will get an over the shoulder glare from both of them LOL

Surely they can both suck it up for one dance on such a special day?

Kristen, you'll get it all done - so don't let the stress part of the planning and coordination get to you! As for a dance that both Derrick and the folks can feel comfy with, look at some of the Andy Williams songs. There are some good ones that everyone can dance to.

On the other hand, you can always surprise the folks and Derrick by having the DJ announce a special dance for the bride, groom and in-laws, and then when you are all on the floor ready to go, he spins up "Thriller" - it's a great group dance!!

Nothings gonna hurt you from sweeny todd. ( might be into the woods) It's about the son protecting and loving his mom.

There are also a ton of Barbra songs about her son Jasen.

Wow! I'm glad to see someone mention this. We had songs from Into the Woods in our wedding and I never heard them again at another wedding!!

I like "What a Wonderful World".

Forever Young is one of my favorites :0)
Rod Stewart . I think you could dance to that with a bouncy kid... :0)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHNeRjC4nJw

very uplifting song After two or more slow songs with people just watching... this might put an uplifting turn in the reception and get everyone dancing. :0)

A great mother/son song is The Pretenders 'I'll Stand by You. AWESOME!

Kristin, take a BUNCH of deep breaths and ask everyone you know for help with every day stuff. You need to concentrate on all these last minute details!

Feel free to vent and rant all you want. :-)

    Great Song

    Rod Stewart's :
"Have I told you lately that I love you"

me and my mom didn't really have a lot when I was growing up, but we always had a good Rod Stewart song.

Don't forget that this is "your" day. There are millions of things to do and everyone you love will somehow annoy the heck out of you while "trying to help" or "trying not to get in your way" by not helping. Just put them all on ignore, try to do as many things as you can the way you want them and then "let it go".

There will be beautiful moments you'll remember forever and many things that wouldn't go right if you had an army helping..... just imagine in advance that it will be plenty good enough and you'll sail through! No single person is as worried about everything as you are and the bright spot in that is that they will all think it went just fine no matter what comes undone.

Make sure you're letting things go that can be let go and concentrating on the things that are important to you. No one else will remember for a minute that something was missing or imperfect. They will remember you coming down the aisle, the giggles between the two of you during the ceremony, the baby crying at the perfect opportunity for dissent and the fun, fun party afterward!

Be good to yourself! You're the star of the show!

This is SOOOOOOOO important for you to remember.

Try not to get so lost in making sure everything is perfect that you fail to enjoy your special day. When you get ready to walk down the isle, take a few deep breaths and let EVERYTHING go and resolve to completely enjoy the day.

Too many brides spend their wedding stressing.... Everyone will remember everything as being wonderful, so let it go and just enjoy yourself once everything starts!

My wedding song was Paradise by the Dashboard Lights by Meatloaf. We liked this part:

I couldn't take it any longer
    Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
    Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!

So now I'm praying for the end of time
    To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!

Perfection? I think there is no such thing .. lol ..

Right now I'm not trying so much to make sure every detail is perfect, but each detail is in place. For example and really frustrating for the record, D's mom said that she had the DJ is place and ready to go eventhough I kept insisting that I needed to speak with her. So she forwards me an email from June or July, that said that we almost lost our date, and that I needed to contact her AT LEAST two weeks before the wedding, and I just saw the email yesterday!! Smoothed over, but it was a close call. Almost lost the florist because she doesn't have freakin voicemail, D's mom was able to smooth it over .. still haven't talked to the photographer since earlier this summer, who knows about the organist, but the food is ordered, the cake has been being made for 2 weeks now, and my daddy is practicing his song. The dresses are in, the tuxes are ordered, and the honeymoon is confirmed .... at least somethings have gone smoothly .. LOL.

Huh .. lookey there .. I did have some energy to rant after all ... hehehe

Thank you for the kind words .. once the day is here, I am really sure I am not going to care anymore, but will want to get to the ceremony. The girls and I are going to run errands to the reception hall and church to drop of the mothers to handle the "making sure everything is right" and CT, my sister, and my best friend, and I are heading out to get our hair done and relax a bit before I have to suck it in and let them zip up my dress with a knee in my back .. lol ..

And, for the record, this was my 1000th post .. spent it on a rant .. LOL .. I need a hug ..

So I need some help picking out agood song for them to dance to...?
When my youngest daughter got married they played "She Dropped a Bomb on Me" among others. Now when we go to a wedding I slip off and corner the DJ and request it. They always comply. Gap Band
