I'm guessing that it will be a ValPak kind of biz model. Anyone else know anything?

Eh, I don't see it as much of anything. Probably getting domains from people who violated their TM or getting the domains themselves. But none of them are brandable domains. They already have coupons for many merchants using Google Checkout, if they wanted a coupon site, they should relaunch Froogle as one. Easy to remember, brandable name not junk like : Google-coupons.org

Yeah, sounds like sites they were forced to get to protect their trademark. Those names are all pretty cruddy. If they wanted coupons, they'd get a simpler name like goupons.com, or goopons, or something along those lines.

Yeah, who knows.
If they do offer a way to provide coupons to search engine users (through the Adwords interface I would presume) I would definitely post some for my products.
EDIT: Just got an email, it's available in Google local on Google maps but is expected to be added to adsense in the future.
Here's the link (need to login to access it)...
