Talking I checked this off my life's to-do list today!
WOW! Today I accomplished one of my life's goals - to become a private pilot. A year and a half of training and studying culminated today with my FAA Flight Test. After 4 hours of verbal examination and a battery of piloting skills tests, I got my "ticket". What a rush!!

I actually started actively working on this goal about 3 years ago. The first step was to save up the money. Where would it come from? Affiliate Marketing!! I worked hard at developing a couple of sites, and over the course of about 2 years had enough saved.

I'm so proud. I couldn't wait to share this awesome news with my ABW family.

So finally, after 35 years of being on my "will do someday" list, "Becoming a Pilot" is now checked off!!

hmmmm... what's the next challenge? Affiliate Fit Club, here I come!!

    Cheers!
    (Captain) Bob

    What an accomplishment, Bob!! Congratulations!!

What exactly can you fly now?

BTW, that testimony of working hard on "developing a couple of" affiliate websites and then in two years earning enough to realize such a dream is just beautiful.

    WOW! CONGRATULATIONS!

Yesterday was, indeed, an intense day for you, but also a very rewarding day. For sure it is one that you will ALWAYS remember. I got my "Ticket" nearly 41 years ago and I can still remember every event of the day. It is something you have worked hard for (just like Affiliate Marketing) and really is a super accomplishment.

I haven't flown a small plane in many, many years - I am truly envious. I will buy you a martini (several martinis) in Scottsdale - we'll have a lot to talk about. We can swp stories, but I want to hear every detail of your check ride.

    WooHoo! WTG, Bob!

WOW! Thanks for everyone's support and cograts!

Billy: Yes, flying in the beautiful Hudson Valley - and everywhere here in the northeast is awesome. I can't wait for Fall foliage flights!

Jorge: LOL! That'd be fun! I'll swing by... it's almost on the way ;-)

Buy-tees: Now THERE's a challenge.. flying across the big pond. I could do a Lindbergh!

    Rhea: p

Geno: I can fly a single engine light aircraft. Typically something that carries four people and goes about 150 mph (240 kph). I've done most of my flying in a Cessna Skyhawk (172-M /G). Here's a photo of the plane I typically fly.

PIC Beachy: OMG, now we're NEVER going to get off the phone! I can't wait to hear your stories and local recommendations!

To those folks considering affiliate marketing to achieve their goals: I had to be sure that my new addiction would not affect the family finances. Affiliate marketing made it possible. If I can do it, so can you. It just takes a lot of motivation and perseverance!

Nice, very nice. I'm sure your CFI told you, now you have a license to learn.

Buddy up with your local flight club(s) and let them know you're looking for hours. I did and it's how I got most of my hours built up so I could get my instrument rating. Getting a CFI and doing that part time is also a good way to get flight time.

I did things like retrieve clubs planes who landed elsewhere because of weather, shuttle stuff around that needed to go to different places for paint, repair, etc. There were many times when I got invited on trips just because the pilot going didn't want to go alone, and they gave me the PIC time just for going. After I got my instrument rating I had 10x the fun with it.

Have fun, be safe. Remember, all takeoffs are optional, all landings are mandatory.

Mack: "License to learn" Yes! And that's one of the things I'm looking forward to.. having the time to delve deeper into areas like more night flying, lower vis, Class B (for taking friends on NYC arial tours). I'm also eyeing acrobatics. I love the idea of being able to express myself that way and I'm very attracted to the precision of it.

Rhea: YES! Rensselaer (5B7). I checked it out in preparation for our next ABW-er Northeast Get Together. Yet another great example of a nice home town General Aviation airport that is sooooooooo convenient.
