A couple of pics from recent trips
I thought I'd share a couple of pictures from my trips this summer.

This first one is of a big fella we ran into while camping in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.

The next pictures are from a recent trip to Michigan. They are from Mackinac Island, Taquamenon Falls, and the Pictured Rocks in Munising.

Gorgeous town and great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

One question...is that a moose or an elk?

There's actually a lot of differences. Geography is one.

To sum it up though, they're really just 2 entirely different species. Moose, I think, tend to be a little bolder when it comes to people.

Not that Wikipedia is an authority in zoology, but their article "Moose" article starts with:

The species Alces alces is called the moose (by North Americans; a name derived from Eastern Abenaki moz)[2] or the elk (by Europeans)... [source]
...and further in the article they call the one that lives in Norway, Sweeden, Russia, etc "moose".

That's a moose alright. Elk have swept-back antlers.

    Thanks everyone.

Noth is right, it is a moose...at least we called him one. I didn't ask him if he considers himself a moose or an elk

I think I have some better photos of him, but they are in black and white and I don't have them back yet.

Yes, we do want to see more pictures of him (even if in black-n-white), K.!! Do post 'em when they are ready. Your pictures are just awesome!
