Name your favourite internet marketers / gurus
Hello, I'm trying to come up with a list of Internet Marketers who are seen as influentials because they have ways to share their knowledge for free with a blog or newsletter. Not the self proclaimed gurus who only have ebooks on sales. I don't know much about them, I would name Joel Comm and John Reese, which others do you know? Cheers, James.

I pay very little attention to so-called gurus and affiliate marketing experts. This website alone is a wealth of information from actual people who really know their stuff. No hype and no filler information. I would be a lot more interested in hearing from the individuals on this board than I would be interested in reading blogs that offer very little essential information.

Not saying there aren't good ones out there- I just have seen too few for it to really matter. The things they take 5 pages to say I have seen members here say in one sentence. Just my opinion. If you are trying to learn about tips and techniques, I wouldn't venture too far away from this board very often.

I do commend you, though, for looking for REAL information- not those who are only interested in "helping others" by pushing their generic over-prices ebooks that do nothing but give the same old rehashed information.

I like to read what Ben Edelman has to say. Not that I understand all that much of it, but I always learn something. There are several industry people who are willing to share their experience, but for some reason their names aren't flowing into my mind. I like the idea of the list...

Also - what's wrong with a little self promotion? It's not like this person is the first person here that uses their site in their name. Everybody is new at some point. I am always a little taken back when new people to the forum get hit with spitballs on their first few posts.

Would Joel Comm be happy that you are using a caricature of him as your avatar?

Also, your site does appear to break some of the Google TOS regarding pimping adsense plus having adsense on those pages. But they will find you themselves.

You seem to be sincere, so I would suggest you start reading here in addition to your "guru" sites.

BTW, I think I'm a guru Depends on your definition. Haiko is definitely a guru. I'm more of a diva I suppose.

Thanks Haiko, both were bugging me. User names as domains are just obviously ... well... spammy.

And using someone else's image is just rude.

I'm my own favorite guru. I know as much as most of them on some things, and less in others. Just like them.

I just haven't figured out how to write 37,000 word landing pages with made up software boxes (for d/l only packages) and 51pt Red Fonts.

But once I learn how to do that, I'll be a guru too.

Hey! My name has only THREE letters... k-a-y

Yet every other post that mentions me says Billy K

An honest answer to the guru q,

I think 1/2 have some kind of angle, some ulterior motive

and the other 1/2, near as I can tell, don't even do affiliate marketing... so no idea how they can be considered gurus

and another 1/2 (i know it doesn't add up to 100), just write to hear themselves talk.

the people i listen to and learn from are all right here

I get the image being deleted, but I get confused with names. I'll have to pay closer attention to the rules. What is it? You can't have the name of your site as your user name? Or is it the www part?

Or is it the www part
That's my best guess; it's self-promotional and engineered about as subtly as a hit on the head with a sledgehammer. I won't go into detail so nobody will mistakenly think I'm a guru and listen to the wrong half of what I say.

Thank you for those who have answered my question. And for the others, well they should mind their own business, I use the exact same avatar image of a caricature of Joel Comm on his own forum, adsensechat and there I have my url as username, and that's the username I use on most prominent forums. So I think the admin has come to edit my username and deleted my avatar just because of a complaint. Some people really have nothing to do than cry and finger pointing.
And if we can't, for some obscure reason, use wwwDOMAINcom as our username, well specify it in the rules that I agree with when registering, how do you want me to guess your minds?

Thank you for the names of internet marketing gurus, I have also searched for them on the web in "top lists" and such, but wanted to ask for this forum members' own names, I have asked also in other forums.
And no I don't come on this forum just to promote my site, you would know about that if you took care of reading my introduction post, but I guess it's useless to ask too much of someone with a username nammed flaming..

    Cheers,
    James
