    I Have Challenged Myself
I have challenged myself with a rather aggressive goal in terms of affiliate marketing success. I must be somewhat bi-polar. Half of me thinks the goal I have set is completely unobtainable, while the other half of me thinks it's doable. I feel like Jim Carrey in "Me, Myself, and Irene" somtimes, but without the violent parts.

If I reach this goal, I will be on cloud nine or what my co-worker refers to as "in tall cotton". The mere thought I what I could do with rewards of meeting this challenge gives me goose bumps. And no it does not involve purchasing a corvette or a boat or some other useles luxury item.

Nothing wrong with setting an aggressive goal. Even if you only come close to reaching it, I bet you'll be satisfied.

Seymour without goals you have no way of judging progress. Good luck.

Best of luck, bud, and if you share the goal with me, I may throw in a $100 GenoBucks prize to motivate you!

Not sure that a boat is a "useless luxury item", but I'll still play...

Good for you! I'm working toward a specific goal this year, also. I want to buy a new car, specifically a Prius. (One of our cars is six years old and the other is sixteen years old.) Before I can do that I have to pay off our home equity loan!

I hope we both achieve our goals!

It's not a real challenge if it doesn't involve a steal cage. :P

Kidding, good luck on achieving your goal!

I've set some goals and challenges for myself recently too. And they're not just affiliate marketing goals, but personal goals too!

Good luck, Seymour. Sounds like you've got your priorities straight. Happiness, financial security, and family first... expensive toys second.

And next time Geno visits ABW, he finds his PM box filled with people telling him their goals.

    1 Week Update:

Not much of an update, other than the launch of a new blog site. Not much of any change in traffic or commissions to speak of.

There is a ton of psychological research on goal-setting. It really works, provided the following three things. They have to be:

    1) Challenging
    2) Publicly stated
    3) Attainable

Since you've said your 50/50 on achieving, I'd venture it's both challenging, but still attainable. If you stated your goal here, that might count as 'publicly stated.' As it stands, you really only stated that there *is* a goal, not *what* the goal is..

Truth is - if you share it with us your more likely to hit it.... I think you should spill the beans.. ;-)

    Cheers

I have decided that I will continue to challenge myself to meet my goal, but I don't think affiliate marketing is the vehicle to get me to that goal. Not by a long shot.

Good luck to you. My hats off to those that are successful!

Does this mean you're giving up on AM or that you are diversifying?

I'm not sure what your goals are but it's only been a month from your initial post. I'd give it more time before hanging it up or moving on. Either way, good luck in your future endeavors.

I rather think of it as discontinuing down a path that leads nowhere.

    Second PM sent.

Withdrawing as an affiliate from affiliate marketing at the start of the most profitable season for most merchants is not right!

I don't know what your goal was but you posted 1 week right after and then a little over a month. A successful business takes time to build up and today this business is just even more competitive and getting so everyday. Like I said, I don't know what your goal was, if it was even a realistic one that could be achieved in a month.

I'm still working on acheiving my first goal after three years (surrounding afiliate marketing, anyways). I set some smaller goals along the way, and got to most of those, but no. It's not easy.
Nor do I think that this is a path that leads nowhere.

I don't expect to reach my goal in 1 month. However, when I evaluate my affiliate marketing venture from the start until now (about 2 years), I realize that I will never get to my goal by way of affiliate marketing. Regardless of the reasons I can come up with, it is a failure that has been tried for almost 2 years. I would be crazy to continue on given past performance. So I tried affiliate marketing and it didn't work for me. Like I said, I have a lot of respect for those individuals that are successful at it. I guess it's just something that I, for whatever reason, am not meant to do and that's ok.
