    Hosting Question
I'm setting up my first website with Lunarpages. When I was going through the set up process I am given some options for added services and I am not sure if I should sign up for them or not.

    ASP Enabled Account $1/month
    Dedicated IP $2.5/month
    Java/JSP Enabled Account $2/month
    Premium Restore Service $1.50/month

I am going with the basic package just to get started. Not sure if I need these other services? Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Jacque

After reading the info at the hosting site, I think it's best to go with the ASP Enabled account in order to enable HTML pages by embedding scripts and the Premium Restore Service to retore file(s) at no extra charge.

Honestly, I'm not sure I completely understand the ASP enabled part - but I'm pretty sure I want to embed scripts.

I'm still unsure about the Dedicated IP and Java/JSP Enabled account.

This is all so new and confusing - please help!

If you are just starting out you should probably just go with the basics. The host should give you the option of upgrading and adding features later on... as you need them.

Thanks Chet. I'm creating my website on Microsoft publisher and still learning HTML. I want to make sure I can transfer the data to the host. Then I want to add affiliate links and adsense.

Just want to make sure I can do this without a problem and if I have to add any options.

I'm sure they (the host) will set you up with a set of standard services - as long as they're a respectable company. Good thing is (as you know) you'll be able to add these additional features as you go along. But like Chet mentioned, it's better to start of simple, and see how you're sites turn out first.

I think the best piece of advice I can give you, is to simply come to ABW and post questions (or search for questions) that you have related to your project. We're a very friendly bunch here, usually, and there's a very wide range of talents to assist: from technical, to marketing, to many other things. I can just about promise that if you run into something, it's likely been experienced by someone here.

So, welcome aboard, and let us know if we can help!

Moved this thread to the "Domains & Hosting" part of the forum.

Lunarpages can be great (we've actually used them for over 3 years), and I am with Chet re how to go about what to choose.

    My personal opinion:

    ASP Enabled Account $1/month
(If this is ASP hosting you should get this free)
    Dedicated IP $2.5/month
(Not needed for 90% of affiliates)
    Java/JSP Enabled Account $2/month
    (Same as above)
    Premium Restore Service $1.50/month
(What does this mean? Should be included ! )

    xo,
    Patrick
