    Shopping.com's Top Products List
I was trying to see if I could find another way to determine what's currently hot in consumer purchases, and came up with this link:

    http://www1.shopping.com/top_searches

Some of the listings don't quite belong in some categories (not sure why). What do you think - do you think it's trustworthy? If I remember correctly, there has been controversy regarding this site, but can't remember the exact details.

If the above is true, and linking to the site is bad in some way, please mods, feel free to delete.

Just curious as to what others think of this info.

Don't know about the accuracy or controversy, but I like the list because the keywords drill down into more keywords which look like they are very close to the buying process. I bookmarked it as another source of keywords and possibly ideas. Nice list!

Yeah, it is pretty nifty. I haven't spent much time on it, but will soon. I guess there's a tradeoff between it's reliability, and its uniqueness. That's about the only source I've ever found that provides that depth of info. I know Google and yahoo provide somewhat similar services, but not quite like theirs.

thanks for pointing to it ;-)

i'm not sure how "Vera Wang" fits in photography or how "nikon point shoot 35mm cameras fits into digital cameras", but search stats are always interesting!

looking for some salt to go with the results

No problem guys, let me know how you end up liking it - whether you're able to find any valuable info or not eventually. I'm browsing through it today, and aside from a lot of misplaced entries (like MRBSHouse mentioned), so far so good.

the data represents searches made the previous month -sometimes months- so its not up to date... never the less you get a trend

I like this list and you can compare the results with

    http://www.google.com/trends

    and

    http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html

The Shopping.com search combined with the two Google urls listed above might be more relevant for you in terms of trends

That's interesting. The eBay API also has something similar where you can get popular keywords per category. It's useful. I wonder if those searches are also available in the Shopping.com API?
