I knew that Spencer Gifts was owned by Universal Studios.

Spiegel does not own Spencer Gifts.

They own, however, Eddie Bauer (and Outlet), Newport News, Spiegel.com, and UltimateOutlet.com

So, this pretty bad news for me if they decide to stiff the affiliates.

Well, I've noticed that a lot of the folks at the shelter have been dressing better recently. If I had known Spiegel was giving out credit cards for free...well, I could have made some big improvement in the wardrobe.

So, what odds would you give Eddie Bauer affiliates and the networks of getting paid?

    Here's an interesting quote:

quote:
Barnard said he expects that the company now will sell Eddie Bauer, the retail chain specializing in outdoor apparel that Spiegel acquired in the late 1980s.

    Very curious.

So I guess it would be a good idea to remove eddie bauer and spiegel links?

I understand now, why I was treaded like trash, when I came to the United States.

I also understand now the need of a Credit Score / Credit Rating System in the United States.

Americans don't understand the meaning of the word "Credit". They don't understand, that it is NOT their money and that they have to pay it back eventually. A lot of americans do their math based on their "minimum payments" and not based on the amount owed and the interest rate.
US Creditors realized that. Except the one who are bancrupt now: Spiegel, Nextcard etc.

You start as trash and have to prove your credit worthiness compared to other civilized countries, where you start with good credit and have to show, that you are trash.

    Sad, isn't it?!

Eddie Bauer is probably still profitable and will be sold.

I would not remove thinks, because the chances are good, that you will be paid.
You can remove them of course to be on the safe side and to give more risk-taking affiliates the chance to make more money
