They do that to play on racial stereotypes.

I finally got so sick of it we've started asking them all to send the cashier's cheques. We'll forward them along to the proper authorities once they arrive.

Frank, I would advise against taking any orders/cashier cheques from Nigerians, read the following article,

    http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,56829,00.html

Even cashiers cheques are not longer safe to accept.

    JJJay,

Thanks, and believe me... I understand. We're going to take the cashier's cheque and immediately forward it to the FBI's Internet Fraud Complaint Center along with any additional incriminating evidence we collect along the way.

If anyone knows of a better place to report this fraud... let us know.

I haven't gotten one of those e-mails in months.

A week ago, I mentioned on another forum that I wanted to mess with them, talking like I was a 15 year old who just learned to use e-mail.

Perhaps I tripped up my efforts?

I've noticed a couple of variations on this, some purporting to be a Phillipine connection, one looking like a U.S. domestic.

what about the scam when they wanted to know your bank account number? I checked on their IP in hotbot and found several messages on a few boards, posted from the same IP. So I collected the used names and emailed them back saying I was interested. Also I said that my assistants would care of the business in the future, and I gave the names I have found by IP. It was a static IP, that's why I was sure it was the same person, or at least, the same computer. They emailed back, asking for my bank account. So I emailed back asking what's next, but they still wouldn't tell until I give them the numbers. Then I called them punks. The End.
So, I still didn't figure it out what that scam was about.
