    I want a lion!
A woman in Columbia found this lion cub who was wounded and hungry. She took him home and raised him until he was too big to keep. She then took him to a local zoo where she visits him every day. This is a video of their greeting. SOOOOOOOO SWEET!

    LOL

Big cats are so gorgeous. I'd love to raise one and let it slobber on me.

I was a guest at Tippi Hendron's animal preserve in Akton (outskirts of Los Angeles) about 20 years ago. She has lions, tigers, an elephant and other wild animals that she's rescued there. They're tame and sweet as can be. I used to have pictures of me and the lions and tigers. Have no idea where they went but it was an awesome experience to hug a lion and pet the tigers. When Tippi Hendron approached them, they ran to her and rubbed on her just like house cats. Very cool.

That was a good video to look at, but I would not get that close to that Animal, specially after what happen to one of those two guys with a lion, on a circus in Vegas a few months ago.

I heard the reporter on the video say that "she actually breastfeed him 6 years ago", so mybe that's why that lion was soo happy to see her again.

Btw Rexanne, I like your big crying Smiley too.

Don't envy her though, R. We wouldn't want to have you eaten by a lion (and I think Trust's post does have a point).

Awwwwhhhhhhhh that is soooooo sweet Thanks for posting it Rexanne I saw Tippi on tv quite a while ago at her refuge and really admired her after that. That would've been sooooo cool to have been there with them. You're really lucky you were.

You mean siegfried and roy and their tigers?
I would be be weary about big cats too. Knowing that they are highly independent animals and they can get moody or defensive. I have a cat and I think I am at the bottom of the packing order. Love the kitty but I have told ppl, if he is as big as a golden retriever, i think I would be his scratch toy..lol

I saw this many moons ago and just found it on youtube

Either way, that is a sweet video.

Lions = Africa. Black Panther = South America.
How in the word does one find a lion cub in South America? Sign me up..

I worked as a docent at a zoo and the zoo director would pet the Siberian tigers through the bars of their enclosure. They'd lived at the zoo for a long time and they knew him well but really, petting a tiger? That's just asking for trouble.

All wild animals are dangerous. As tame as they might seem under some circumstances you can never entirely trust them. Heck, there are enough horrible stories of domesticated animals that attack humans.

Don't get me wrong, you all know that I'm an animal lover. I've kept them as pets and I've worked with them professionally. I've been bitten, pinched, stung, crapped on, vomited on, nearly strangled, knocked down, thrown, kicked, picked up, musked and generally abused and misused by all kinds of animals, wild and domesticated alike. When you keep animals you have to know what alarms them, how they show alarm and how they react to alarm. You also have to know the ways in which they can injure you. Just because an animal looks cute doesn't mean it isn't dangerous. All animals have the ability to defend themselves when they feel threatened and as humans we don't always understand what causes an animal to feel threatened. That's when we get a rude surprise.

My favorite quote about wild animals in captivity is from a zookeeper who worked with polar bears. He said, "Happy to meet you, happy to eat you." Nuff said.

    You people are nuts! lol!

Although I will confess that I enjoyed playing pat-a-cake with the jaguar at the zoo (we were on opposite sides of a glass window) and "chase me" with the red wolves (we were on opposite sides of a chain link fence) *and* I have petted a Florida panther, whale, stingrays, sea turtles and some other critters that most "civilians" would never have access to. One of the perks of working as a biologist. But I would never, ever consider having any of them as a pet.

    Thank you Eric,

Yes, that is what I meant "siegfried and roy and their tigers" but, at 06:20 AM when I made that post, I didn't remember Siegfried and Roy names.

And after seeing this video I also said lion instead of tiger , but just the thought of seeing any of those big felines too close to people, it looks like dinner is about ready for them.

I've always wanted a Siberian lynx.
