I'm renaming a page to improve it's search engine placement. Currently the page is burried somewhere in the slums of Google.

My intention is to keep the older page up, since people may have it bookmarked or are visiting it through other means. I am adding a note to the page informing visitors of the new page.

My question is how to handle the meta tags on the page. Do I delete the keywords or keep them on? Also, should I add the instructions "noindex, follow" in the meta tags.

    Thanks.

I don't believe in trashing a page that is bringing traffic.

I would change the new page to be different and I would put a link to the new page on the one you have.

In time, you may retire the old page or gradually change it so something else...

    Option number two:

Put up new page and link it from someplace besides old page.

write a meta redirect from old page to new page.

old page will eventually disappear off the SE's and new page get its own placement.

    just a thought...
