Smile Direct Deposit or Check? You decide
    Hey Everyone

Just doing a quick poll as we are internally looking at adding in a " check " option for our affiliates and just wanted to get an ABW feel for how popular the " check " option is amongst you

    Thanks in advance

Rhea7 I know you will be a big yes :-)

I still like checks. Good to have both as the other networks do.

In the UK we started with "cheques" and everyone really wanted the Direct Deposit option - with a few exceptions.

We are definitley going to offer both options in the US but I was interested to see what the majority actually prefer

It wont change the decision or the speed of delivery but good information to know about the differences between markets.

Thanks for the votes and replies so far

I voted for "I like to have the choice" because like Trust said, "I still like checks", but eventually I would probably use the Direct Deposit option, after I have cashed a couple of checks from any new place that I have joined, and I see that there is no problems on pay day.

That makes a lot of sense Mr. Sal - use the check option to test things out

A very good reason to have the option for sure.

    Thanks for the feedback

In most instances having choice is not good. But that's when there is too much choice. Between DD and check, I'd say -- offer both and let them choose. I personally voted for DD. If I were a buy.at affiliate I'd choose DD over check any day.

I always choose Direct Deposit if it's available, but some do prefer checks so it's best to give affiliates the choice. The "I like to have a choice" is going to skew your results quite a bit because you won't know which of the two those prefer.

    Geno,

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I think that you still have some of the pre 90's mentality by what you have just posted!

    Think about it,

I dont want to derail this thread to talk about "In most instances having choice is not good", but please, think about it.

Sal, in "pre 90s" I was between 3 and 13 (depending on what part of the 80s you take). No, it's definitely not that... I guess I sounded differently from what I actually wanted to say: "having a lot of choice" was what I meant (I still remember selling 1000+ versions/types of traditional Russian nesting dolls in one place), but yes, let's not derail Mal's thread, and if any further clarifications are needed, let's carry this over into a thread of its own.

    Thanks.

Are affiliate merchants reluctant to issue checks because they don't want to hire a bookkeeper?

I can understand how an affiliate living outside of the United States might not want to receive payment via checks.

If an affiliate network does not issue checks as payment, I simply will not join.

lol Just so you know you're not the only one Rhai7, I won't join a program unless they offer the check option either.

In the beginning I think Trust might've brought it up and Malcolm said they would soon be offering it as an option. So, figured I trusted Malcolm to do what he said he was gonna do and if for some reason he didn't.....I'd have him take my comm. then have him write me a check. lol

I guess I don't understand the need to have a check in your hand. Is there a valid reason that I'm missing or is it a preference.

I'd prefer to get my money through Paypal, truth be told, but I have no valid reason why. I just would.

Deposit is only good if the merchant will actually deposit it in the affiliate's bank account. PayPal is great.

If you've ever gone through the grief of trying to set up Direct Deposit between CJ and a Canadian bank, you'll be glad to have the option of being paid by cheque.
