    [2007] IDevaffiliate v. Postaffiliatepro...
i'm about to launch a travel site. there will be up to six tours/products initially. We are going to include an affiliate program, and are currently leaning to Idev...

does anyone have any recommendations between Idev and Postaffiliate?

is there any other affiliate software we need to consider?

please let me know know and your input is much appreciated.

    Best, VMC

PAP then, I'm not a fan of IDEV for many real reasons.

You can also check out affiliate-software-review.com for some other alternatives.

Why? You may save some money on the front end, but it will be much more difficult to recruit the affiliates you need to make your program a success. While many of us do work with independents, a trusted network like SaS adds a level of comfort that just isn't there with a new merchant.

You should really consider not doing this in-house.

Besides the unavailability of the developer?

    OK how about broken promises?

    Shall I continue???

Look at the software, once you've actually gotten into a real world scenario with an affiliate program and need something done, you'll be thankful that you didn't decide on IDEV.

    "broken promises..." as in?

regarding "real world scenario"...what specifically? payouts? tracking? affiliate communication?

im trying to make sense of all this before i buy in.

    thanks - VMC

    Another comparison
A very good comparison indeed, qualityunit. I also read a bit skewed view on the issue, the author does not attempt to be objective but honestly says he lists "13 major advantages of Post Affiliate Pro". He never says where Idev is stronger but here's the "review" anyway http://mypostaffiliatepro.com/postaf...-idevaffiliate

It might be bias towards PAP here because the owner of PAP is active here. But they both keep up with updates and both have pros and cons.

If you are on a budget go with independent but if you want to grow fast and have more time to work on your site then go with SAS.

I have used both systems and they work fine for what I needed them for. Try test driving each to see what you like better.

William, yes, I'm active in this forum, but I have no problem with competition.

I don't think, that affiliate networks are so big competition for us :-)
A LOT of merchants, which were in any affiliate network later builds also own affiliate programs based on our affiliate software.
In long term it is more profitable to own affiliates, be in closer contact with them, pay less to network and more to affiliates, etc.

Also with our software can merchants build own affiliate networks, if this is the long term strategy for them.

I agree with you, everyone should try, what works better for him.

We are using trackingsoft for 2 of our clients. We have been using them for 2 years now. Features (like clean linking) and support are really good, though the monthly fee could be a bit expensive.

clean linking is standard feature, which comes in PAP even in cheapest hosted account for $19 or cheapest standalone edition
