    What name do you prefer?
My user name here is what a LOT of people call me. And that's fine But recently I have been asked more "what do you want me to call you?"

I am perfectly comfortable with my "handle", I created it, it's easy to say and "loxly" has fared better when "deborah" has been a little (ok, more than a little ), crazy.

Do you like being called your "real" name or your ABW (and other forums and online presence) user names/handles? I actually don't like that I am Deborah Carney on Facebook, and have Deborah aka Loxly on some other places, like Twitter...

    Just call me Lox....

I prefer Billy Kay - he can say things the real me can't get away with

And if it pertains to work, I tend to call people by their avatars

If I could have pulled it off, I wanted to have a separate account for loxly and one for the real me, lol. But the real me *is* loxly, so I wouldn't have been able to keep them separate. But yeah, loxly sometimes wants to say things that I can't/shouldn't, lol.

    Definitely my user name!

It always looks wrong to see that "other" name, you know, the one on my license and credit cards.

I think I know what you mean!

After certain age, I too would like to drop the Mr. part out of my name.

Now I wish they would still will ask for my ID again, like just a few months ago.

Staril has been my online name for many years and I always use it when I register anywhere ... but it still seems strange to hear people call me by it. At the last summit Deb referred to me as Staril and someone I had been talking to for ages said "Oh that's who you are" ... might just have to wear a badge with it at the next summit

I think Deb forgot a couple of her names though ... Momma and Slavedriver

Either one is fine for me, but most people only know me as Lanadili online. It's a name I chose for a character in Everquest many years ago, and it's just stuck with me since. I even have an avatar pic of that character, but have been debating whether I should put that one up or my real pic...

I never gave it much thought until my first Affiliate Summit. There I learned to introduce myself as, "Bill - Beachy on ABW." Then people would recognize me and call me by either name. So I can live fine with Bill or Beachy.
I do spend a lot of time at the beach - so it fits...

You can call me by either my screen name or my real name. I answer to either.

When I first joined the CJ forum, I wanted to make sure they knew it was me so I used my real name which also could be seen as a pseudonym to most. Personally I've never been an anonymous alter ego kinda guy, but I fully support and encourage it here.

BTW, I have problems calling Lox anything besides Lox, when people say Deb to me and I say who?

As long as I'm not called late for dinner, I don't care what I'm called.

My handle, or variations of it, or my name are fine. Guess it mostly depends on who I'm talking to, if it's a forum or site, I'd pretty much expect my handle or first name, otherwise I'd mostly expect my first name.

    Look at it this way...

If I was talking to you at a convention and said, "Oh look at that group - it's Connie, Scott, Scott, Deb and Kel"... would it mean anything to you?

    What if I said

"Let''s get outta here quick. That group heading over here is FlamingoWorld, Snib, UncleScooter, Loxly and and Kellie aka MsB"

For better or worse, we're known by our posts

Gary is what I prefer. Writerguy's good too, though.

(I hate my "real" or "full" first name. It's been confusing all my life. I use it for "business" or formal purposes, but few people -- maybe none here? -- know what it is.)

People can call me whatever they want, do use purplebear most everywhere online, tho. Guess I'd prefer that but won't get mad at ya if anybody calls me by my real name. lol

Deb, will go back to calling you Lox. lol Think you may have confused me once cos one of your emails was signed Deb or Debbie or something like that so I changed to referring to ya that way. lol

Is actually much easier for me to refer to people by their usernames cos I know of a few people that don't want their names known by others that I correspond back and forth with....so I don't wanna get into the habit of referring to them by their real names cos I'm afraid I'll slip one day and say their real name. Oh....the pressure I'm under. lol

Gary: I hate my real first name, too. lol Have always gone by nickname for my middle name. Hardly anybody actually knows my real first name. lol

purplebear, signing AM emails as "loxly" might not fly with companies I represent I have to sign them with my real name But don't let that throw you, I am lox to pretty much everyone....
