redesign existing website. redirects and google query
    Hello,
I am redesigning an existing website which has many cached pages and back links listed on google.
I want to maintain these links as active. Should I:
Set up permanent redirects or temporary redirects on my .htaccess file to maintain the active links?
    AND
When I register my new sitemap with google ( curerntly there is no sitemap - just site registration), will this have an impact on my existing cached pages?

Is there anything else I should consider?

Incidentally, the domain name and the URL will be exactly the same. on the new site

Looking for a relativley seamless transition from the current site to the newly developed version.

    Hope someone can help.

Are you sure you want to do this? Would it be possible to leave the old pages and create new pages in the new design?

well can you show us the old one and how do you want to redesign the new website?

if you want seamless non-interrupt transaction, can you tell me are you moving hostor or you stay with the same one. They are different approaches to your issue.

    Thanks Guys,
I have created the new site ( Same hosts) and setup permanent redirects, in the .htaccess file, from all links cached on Google and other search engines.
Seems to have worked OK without any impact on my ranking.

    Rgds
