Yet another adware company is facing legal woes.
Wurld Media Execs Facing 50 Years Jail Time

    http://affiliatefairplay.com/newsblo...ars-jail-time/

Gonna be some pissed off people, with some big well-known reputable charities, who are embarassed by this.

Since tax issues are involved, I'm guessing the Feds won't be far behind.

I remember when I reported one of their many BHOs popping on Rugman... this news proves there's karma. :-)

Karma. Same company that thought some affiliates on this board were lonely and sent them over some visitors.

The sad thing is new ones keep popping up. It will only end when the largest merchants set standards for ethics.
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die
to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there
isn't and die to find out there is.

Yeesh. That was a very creepy walk down memory lane, Trust. Lots of the people who posted in that thread are long gone, it seems.

I'm glad the WM folks are in hot water. They've done a lot of harm to this industry over the years.

I hope that Wurld Media's / BuyersPort's abusing groups like SpecialOlympics.org to spread their commission-thieving PC-clogging spying BHOs to steal commissions, earns them a special place in prison next to someone with a temper that also has a handicapped child.

Karma has such a weird way of managing to work these things out.

Yo merchants, if you're on this list of "Shop and Support", you've got Wurld Media / BuyersPort in your affiliate program, according to this posting of theirs:
    http://sojoin.buyersport.com/stores/retailers.html

Which means some BHO software pops an affiliate tracking cookie when the shopper with that software installed visits your site. They're not bringing you new customers, just collecting commissions for getting their software on people's computers.

I have no idea how updated this list is, but it's coming right from the arraigned horse's mouth (site).

By the way, eBay, Orbitz, OverStock, David's Cookies merchants I expect - all of the stupid, not-sure-what-affiliate-marketing-is-but-our-reports-say-we're-doing-well-at-it types, but EasyClickTravel... how far have they fallen? Ouch!

Go down this list, it shows the affiliate urls - you'll see the numbers of them that are CJ and LinkShare urls.

Look real close at those urls folks, and you'll see how clever another well known network is for the ways they keep their domain mainly out of the spot light... if you can't see it, pick a few and follow their links and find their aff signup pages and see that low-laying 3rd "major" network I'm referring to. The big 3 will do anything to screw over us little guys who are trying to add value, they've sold out their ethics (and responsibility to their merchant clients) for cash.

Zone Alarm was pretty funny too.

My fav is Orange County Choppers. Ever see those guys get mad? If they knew how this "affiliate" was "producing" sales, look out!

It sure is refreshing to mention this thread to a merchant, and get an immediate, positive, reaction from them. One less merchant to worry about during Christmas! The merchant? Sheplers.com , a really good company.
Following everyone else is a GREAT way to become average.

    Donuts-

BuyersPort has now been removed from the EasyClickTravel and LastMinuteTravel affiliate programs.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and helping to fight the good fight!

Phil, suggest you notify LinkShare that you want all of these software types of "affiliates" removed.
