Pending application - how long is too long?
I usually get approved to the programs I'm interested in very fast, average less than 24 hrs, I will say.

But this one has been on my CJ "pending application" status for 10 days. Not that it is a superstar(only rate one bar on CJ). I just want to add a few of their products to a small section of my site.

After over a week, I send an email to the contact listed on their CJ program interface asking about my pending status. The answer rather made me wonder if I should even apply to their program in the first place.

    "Hi xxxxxx
We have thousands of applicants applying every day and its hard for me to go through them. Can you tell me how you plan on advertising xxxxxx.com? This will help me in the process.

    xxxxxx
    CEO
    xxxxxx.com"

Wow, thousands of applicants every day for a one bar merchant, maybe it is a superstar ? Anyway, I responed patiently with my marketing plans, where will their products be listed, etc...

Two more days have past, no response. My application is still pending...I'm about to drop them(wait, I can't drop them since I haven't been approved yet )

Pending application - how long is too long for you guys?

Is there anyway I can de-apply the programs(cancel the application) if they are pending for too long time?

Maybe that will be a good function for CJ to add on.

    I don't think you can.

When I'm ready to add a merchant to a site - I'm ready to add them then.

If I don't get approved right away - I move on to another merchant that will approve me and use them.

I give them the exact amount of attention they give me. I have a couple stuck in the pending pile. Sent requests, no reply=no effort. I figure if they are doing so well they are to busy to accept/deny applications, then maybe too many people are promoting them already and I move on.

I wish "I'm ready" instead of "I have poped" . Now I need to find the products I poped in and replace them with other merchants' products. Good thing I have only a few of them.

    I know, I know I shouldn't...

Never thought of a one-bar merchant will turn me down .

Always have the merchant before you add the products....

    Hello,

I also run some programs, never the ones we manage however but I signed up for one affiliate program in CJ in May 2007 and still have not been approved (It's Dec!!)... I was going to take a screen shot and send it to the AM... Unbelievable I approve all applicants within 24 hours of applying to our programs.. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in affiliate marketing.. Try contacting the affiliate manager of the program you are applying to maybe that will help.

Seems to me like your question has already been answered...by the fact that you were lied to in the response email. A one-bar merchant with thousands of DAILY applications. Really!!!

After an answer like that I wouldn't give them another minute of my time. Drop them and move on... (Just my 2-cents worth)

I have one pending application from May 2005!

I think in most cases, a day to a week of processing is understandable.

Thousands of applicants per day; one-bar merchant? Hmmm... hard to think that is an honest number. Better to take your marketing thoughts to another merchant.
