I was thinking today over lunch about lead gen programs and about cost per sale programs. I have managed both, and while the lead gen have produced a lot more traffic for my clients, I don't feel as satisfied. There is something about an actual sale being made that makes me feel so proud of an affiliate, and happy for my client. My clients who have sales programs always seem to be more excited with their monthly reports as well.
Am I the only one who likes sales programs better? I know several affiliates who have told me in the past that they will only run lead gens, and in the particular market we were talking about, it makes sense. But I guess I have developed a tenderness for the actual sales made by affiliates.....I think it is so cool when an affiliate can say I made such and such in commissions and generated blank in revenues for said company.
