Joe, when does the "Holiday Gambling" contest end?

    My "haul" (just the biggies)

    1. Left laughlin with $3800 (Thanksgiving weekend)

    2. Met Eric at palms following Monday and left with $2900

    3. Sunday: 4 aces at Snackers ($500)

    4. Monday: 4 aces at Smiths while dropping off dry cleaning ($500)

    3. Tuesday: 4 aces at Rampart THREE TIMES ($1500) (I left with $900)

    4. Wed: 4aces at goldcoast yesterday - but it was on dimes... only $200

I don't want to take Joe's post off topic

But Deb and I had machines next to each other in Laughlin. She "demanded" we switch machines. We did. I switched from quaters to dollars on her machine and immediately got 4 aces - 2 grand

    It was akward

BUT... a floor person saw me hit the 4 aces at Rampart... and 3 spins later the 2nd one. So I joked to her that she should have TOLD me the machine is hot, I would have played dollars

She said each denomination is a different computer program, so switching to dollars would not have resulted in the 4 aces

So Deb, even tho I hit on "your" machine... it was because I chose dollars and hence, a different program

Not only that, but I think that the time at which the person hits the button or takes whatever action to constitute a "play" is a factor in whether or not the play is a win. So, if you leave a machine and the next person to play it hits a jackpot, you might not have hit the button at the same time they did and get the win.

I've always known about pushing the MaxPlay button - basically, the computer's "reels" are constantly spinning, and the precise time you hit the play button determines your hand...

but this was the first time I was told that each denomination is a different program

That would explain all those times you're playing quarters and the machine is doing great, so you raise it to dollars - and 5 spins later you're broke.

I have a new rule - if it's hittin' on nickels... STAY on nickels!!!

True, since computers can never be truly random, gambling software typically uses a mathematical formula that is seeded with a variable to increase the illusion of being random. That seed number could be the second of the minute, second of the day or some other variable that changes frequently. The more complex the algorithm and variable the more the numbers generated appear random. Random.org uses atmospheric noise to generate random numbers.

So Lox, you could consider yourself BK's good luck charm because you were part of the event that set the random number in place.

Yeah... what I said, except more verbose and technical.

I once saw a show about casinos with a real life case of a programmer who rigged a game such that if you followed a certain pattern of plays, 2 coins-3 coins-1 coin, etc, it would pay off the jackpot. He also noticed the "random" cpu times weren't exactly random and he was able to predict keno numbers for his buddy to play with a program he wrote.

    True story...

We were at RedRock... Deb played about 12 different machines

At each machine, the person who sat down NEXT to her won a jackpot

I vaguely remember a lady sitting down on her left and hitting a jackpot - then moving to the machine on her right and hitting another jackpot!!

So it's clear some casinos have a Loxly algorhythem

Loxly needs to find an anti-Loxly to sit next to her while she gambles so all her lucky energy will be redirected back at her.
