yet Another Sneaky Way to Deny Our Commissions
i'll just copy my email to the merchant:

    Hi

When a customer gets to the page where they choose their delivery method, they get:

The following delivery options are available for this shipment.

Standard : Please allow 10-14 business days for delivery of all available products. Allow extra time for delivery to Alaska and Hawaii.

If you require Overnight or 2nd Day delivery, please call us at 1-800-458-7999
How are affiliates compensated if the visitor chooses anything other then standard shipping?

    Thanks,
    Billy

This is another case where you wouldn't notice it until you've already given your credit card info and made it thru to the final page before confirmation.

As a merchant.... that just doesn't seem fair at all. And down right dirty.

    Do they track phone sales?

I'd guess they don't track phone sales - unless they give each cart instance a unique identifier that the caller can reference (and the affiliate's ID is attached to that identifier). That's a damn dirty way to do business, if you ask me.

And I'll bet it's intentional. There is no reason whatsoever to require a customer to call for upgrading shipping.

It's ok to post the merchant. So I Google and it was Colorful Images.

It smells to me, too, especially at this time of year. People get stupid and will pay for "express" even when there is no real need to, so this tactic will likely siphon off more orders than at other times.

The only legit reason I can think of is if they didn't have an express option already coded into their cart, but got a spike of demand for it. Sometimes there'll be idiots who go through the regular order process, and then put "send via Express" in the comment box as if that's going to go for the same fee. If the merchant figures that it's a short-term phenomenon, they may not consider it worthwhile to bother making it an in-cart ability if they don't have a programmer on staff.

That is terrible! I can't see why shipping charges couldn't be easily coded into the site, and most people would balk at waiting 14 BUSINESS days - good grief, that's almost three weeks.

I didn't realize you have to check so deeply into the sales process to make sure everything's fine.

Please let us know what the merchant replies or the rep does. (I'd ask my LS rep, but I don't have one).
