    10% Advertised but 5% Offered
This is a first for me. I applied to Beaucoup Wedding Favors today seeing there offer as 10%. I got an email saying that my application has
been reviewed and approved, if you will accept a reduced commission of 5%.

Check the other ones available. There are several in that vertical in the Avantlink merchant selections, including a new one if I remember correctly. 5% is way below standard commission for this vertical. Did they do that for everyone, past affiliates included, and if so, I wonder if they sent out an announcement.

Thanks for the reminder, time to start getting up to speed for spring season.

I just checked. It says 10%, but 5% for coupon sites. Says it right there.

There are 8 favors merchants to choose from, it pays to check them all out, including cookie duration and conversion %, which varies from one to another.

Beaucoup converts the best for me out of all of them.

I guess that was it, but they could have stuck a little explanation in their form letter. It came off as bait and switch. If you see 10% in the listing that's what I would (up until now) expect.

    I'd avoid them Bump...

They have a place for a coupon code on the order page

So even if you had a product site -and you'd make the 10% - and they clicked thru

soon as the customer sees the place to enter a coupon, they'll go search coupon sites for the code, and you'll loose the cookie and sale anyway

The visitor could also get angry at you and never return to your site because they would think you KNEW there was a coupon and didn't tell them on purpose - so you'd make more money at their expense.

Merchants who don't allow a level playing field should be banned from the industry

Yeah, I'd move on. There are more rational merchants out there.

"It says 10%, but 5% for coupon sites."

So what if you weren't a coupon site but one that pushed products. That would be considered more a product site. But what would happen if you listed a coupon and a customer used it? Would you still be considered more a product site or are you now a coupon site?

Yep it's an identity crises. I had two sites in Avant for them to see. One is a coupon site and the other content. Rather than ask where I would use their links they just ratcheted down my offer.

I have content sites with links to the coupons on the coupons site, so what am I? In those old western movies there was a term "halfbreed".
