Another way to get your shops into a WordPress post
Dan has added another way to get shops into your WordPress blog post if you have the PopShops WP plugin installed. Here's how:

    * Install the latest (.3) version of the plugin
    * In your post, add the tags [popshops][/popshops]
    * Copy your shop ID from the "pop it in" tab (it's the really long code). For example it's the part shown in red here: http://shops.popshops.com/shops/8227f9f27ec74603a4ce12a096563c62

That's it. I also have a quick screencast showing how to do it (no sound). This will be in PHP if you are a Pro or Enterprise user.

    Jessie,
Is there any functional difference between using the tags and using the edit post popshops menu?

If you are talking about the "pop" icon (the product popper), there are a couple of differences.

    * With the tags, you will get the formatted shop exactly as you built it in ShopBuilder (popshops.com)
    * With the Popper, you get raw HTML and the formatting is handled by your WP stylesheet
    * The Popper is not dynamic, so price changes, etc won't be reflected
    * The Popper can be used without leaving WP. With the tags, you have to create your shop in PopShops.com

no, I'm asking if there is a functional difference between using the tags and the MENU on the edit screen not the button in the visual editor. The menu is on the side below the categories.... you know where you attach the shop to the end of posts, so they look like they are actually posts even though they're not.

Nope, no difference. The only difference is that you can put these anywhere in the post.

I watched the screencast twice but I am missing one thing: using the tags, how can you select what shop to show?
Other question: To install the new version, the existing plugin needs to be disabled in order to be replaced, right? The existing shops that have been 'posted' don't need any changes and will work fine with the new plugin? Or is all this info at the link to download the new version?
    lol! I am easily confused.

    Hi,
This is just a minor "hack" that went into the plugin, so nothing else will change, no worries.

the way you choose which shop you add is the same as you choosing a shop and copying the code from the "pop it in" tab. You just choose whichever shop you want and then find that shop ID in the snippet. This is just a shortcut for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. Since there is no functional difference I'll keep using the menu.

    Hi.

I like the popshops concept. I am kicking the tires right now. everything seems to be working fine. The images appear distorted though. Is it something I am doing?
